One of our favourite features of the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden is the wooden treehouse that has been built around a tree. Another fun playground worth exploring at the Dawson area is the Hills & Ribbons playground beside Margaret Drive Hawker Centre at the SkyResidence @ Dawson. The most prominent feature at the Hills & Ribbons playground is its treehouse structure which can either be reached by a flight of colourful stairs, or by tramping up a sloped net. The treehouse is made up of various platforms. A tube slide provides a quick way to exit the treehouse. There are also other climbing obstacles for kids around the playground. What wins this playground over for us is the its location at Toa Payoh Centre. The blue frame houses a set of climbing nets that spans two levels. These are more suitable for older kids. Kids can ascend from the lower level and make their way to the higher level where vortex of cargo nets provides a more vertical climbing challenge. There is a small water play area too. While some may find the Gillman Barracks playground across Alexandra road to be fun, we personally prefer the HortPark playground. This underrated playground has a variety of play areas that cater to different ages. These include a climbing frame as well as different mounds and pieces of play equipment. Sembawang Park Playground

Sembawang Park in the north of Singapore is a beautiful green park. The park’s Battleship Playground is a unique playground that pays tribute to two British ships, The Prince of Wales and Repulse, that were sunk during World War 2. This awesome outdoor playground in Singapore opened in July 2013 and kids can explore both inside the ship and its upper decks. Mandai Wildlife West Playgrounds

Mandai Wildlife West, the area outside Bird Paradise, is home to several free outdoor playgrounds. In total, there are three playgrounds to explore at Mandai Wildlife West: Pangolin Hideout, Pangolin Adventure and Forest Stream. Pangolin Hideout consists of a wide tower with a long slide and tunnels in the mounds perfect for crawling, burrowing and climbing. Pangolin Adventure is an inclusive playground while the Forest Stream playground encourages kids to balance on a suspension bridge and weave through the root-like structures inspired by mangrove forests. The Potter’s Garden

Originally launched in 2014 as Jurong Eco-Garden, the tranquil green space has been renamed The Potter’s Garden in tribute to Jurong’s pottery legacy. The towers at Jurong West Jewel playground have an angular design that reminds us of a cluster of mineral deposits. Alternatively, you can think of them as industrial structures with their pipes and columns exposed. There are several fun ways to enter the towers. These range from a regular set of stairs to footholds that have been incorporated into the design of the towers. At the other end of the courtyard, another tower for younger child and a four-person seesaw that riders can comfortably enjoy rocking up and down.
