Children’s Season 2018 at National Museum of Singapore invites children of all ages to explore and experience play at the Stamford Road museum. The activities at the museum will be held from 26 May till 24 June 2018 during the June school holidays 2018 in Singapore.

This year, Children’s Season 2018 at National Museum of Singapore coincides with the exhibition The More We Get Together: Singapore’s Playgrounds 1930 – 2030. The exhibition is the first at the National of Museum of Singapore to be dedicated to the subject of playgrounds.

This just means that there is even more reason to head out to play at National Museum of Singapore during the mid-year school holidays 2018. Here are six activities and things for kids to do during Children’s Season 2018 at National Museum of Singapore.

#1. The Dynamic Lines of Our Nest

Play space for toddlers at National Museum of Singapore's RotundaPart art installation, part creche, The Dynamic Lines of Our Nest occupies level one of the National Museum of Singapore’s Rotunda. Created by French artist Matali Crasset, the work pays tribute to the awakening of curiosity in toddlers. A circular playpen area allows toddlers to look upwards at the colourful installation which also doubles up, when twirled, as a humongous mobile.

#2. Bouncy Adventures

Inflatable Playground, Children's Season 2018 at National Museum of SingaporeChildren’s Season at the National Museum of Singapore is the time when the retro-playground-inspired bouncy castles come out. This year, these inflatables tie in well with The More We Get Together exhibition indoors. The old Dove Playground and the Clock Playground are among the heritage playgrounds that get a new lease of life as bouncy inflatables this year. Bouncy Adventures takes places from 26 May to 24 June, 10 am to 5.30 pm, on the Front Lawn of the National Museum of Singapore.

#3. Young Cinema

Timescapes – A Singapore Anthology is a collection of short animated films which reflect on love, life and Singapore’s landscapes. This Young Cinema programme at National Museum of Singapore is presented in collaboration with Robot Playground Media and be held at The Salon on Saturdays and Sundays, 26 May to 24 June at 10 am and 2.30 pm (two hours per session).

#4. World Kids Colouring Day Competition

Generic colour pencils art - School Holiday Camps and Programmes November - December 2017Grab your colour pencils and join in a colouring competition on 2 June from 1 pm to 2.30 pm at the museum’s Glass Atrium. Children can colour away for a good cause on that day as STAEDTLER will be making a donation to the National Heritage Fund for each entry in the contest. The proceeds will go towards supporting children’s programmes at the National Museum of Singapore.

#5. Creating Art with Nature

A series of art therapy workshops will be conducted by Kelly Reedy at the museum’s Activity Space during Children’s Season 2018 at National Museum of Singapore. At these parent-child workshops, participants will make use of natural objects such as flowers, leaves and spices, along with art materials to create mixed media pieces and have fun communicating with each other at the same time. The art therapy sessions will be held on 30 May, 2 June and 23 June. Spaces are limited and registration is required.

#6. Sensory Saturday

Enjoy free play outdoors under the Banyan tree at National Museum of Singapore at four sensory play stations on Sensory Saturdays. The different materials which children and parents can have fun playing together with include water, sand, water-beads and paint. This programme at Children’s Season 2018 at the National Museum of Singapore is presented in collaboration with What a Mess! Fees apply and registration is required through What a Mess! Facebook page. Sensory Saturday will be conducted on 26 May, 2, 9 & 23 June at 10.30 am.
