Is it worth the money to buy tickets to Universal Studios Singapore when your child is only a toddler? You wonder about the suitability of Universal Studios Singapore for Toddlers.

Here’s what we realised: There is a (magical) age window where your tot is old enough to enjoy himself, meet the minimum height requirement to go on a decent number of rides, and his ticket is FREE because he is under four years old.

So we visited the theme park with our toddler and crunched it down for you in a list all the rides which are friendly for the younger tykes. Your tot can’t go on Battlestar Galactica, the world’s tallest duelling roller coaster, but there are many other rides he can enjoy.

Universal Studios height wall - Universal Studios Singapore for ToddlersAt the ticket gate to the theme park, there is a wall where you can take stock of your kid’s height and find out which rides he’s allowed on.

*The magic height requirement seems to be 92cm, where a whole new world of possibilities open up in terms of tot-friendly rides. But note that handheld infants are mostly not allowed on rides. Plan your trip with this map.

RIDES

Zone: Madagascar

Universal Studios Crate Adventure

Madagascar: A Crate Adventure

Height requirement: 80cm and above
Accompanying parent: All children under 122cm

A pretty mild boat ride takes passengers down a meandering ‘river’ (with real water) with Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria, the four main characters of the animated show, Madagascar. It’s a bit like Disneyland’s A Small Small World.

Universal Studios King Julien’s Party-Go-Round CarouselKing Julien’s Party-Go-Round

No height requirement
Accompanying parent: All children under 122cm

A carousel with tall giraffes that have crooked necks, zany zebras, and King Julien. For the very young, there are chariots with benches available on the merry-go-round. So, twirl awaaaay!

Zone: The Lost World

Universal Studios Canopy Flyer

Canopy Flyer

Height requirement: 92cm and above
Accompanying parent: All children under 122cm

We’re surprised they let kids as short as 92cm in on this ride high up in the sky. But we’re thrilled that we can zoom over Jurassic Park on the backs of flying dinos and enjoy the aerial views and cool breeze.

Universal Studios Dino SoarinDino-Soarin’

No height requirement
Accompanying parent: All children under 122cm

This one is kind of like Canopy Flyer… alright, not quite. You get to ride on the backs of flying dinos, but you go round and round in circles. The upside is, you get to control the flying ride and choose to soar up or down. Pretty neat for the really young ones.

Amber Rock Climb

No height requirement
Accompanying parent: All children under 122cm

Rock climbing! Quite a sight to see young kids scale up the rock climbing wall.

Zone: Far Far Away

Universal Studios Enchanted Airways

Enchanted Airways

Height requirement: 92cm and above
Accompanying parent: All children under 122cm

This junior roller coaster will satisfy the thrill-seeking bunch. You can’t get on Battlestar Galactica with a young kid in tow, but Enchanted Airways is a milder version – and still an enjoyable roller coaster ride!

Universal Studios Shrek 4D Adventure

Shrek 4-D Adventure

No height requirement
Accompanying parent: All children under 122cm

A 3-D animated show featuring Shrek, bouncing seats, air blasts and water sprays that will make your experience come alive. Fair enough, this can be called a ride in our books.

Magic Potion Spin

No height requirement
Accompanying parent: All children under 100cm

A mini Ferris wheel for kids in Fairy Godmother’s Potion shop. A very mild ride that will not scare tiny tots.

Zone: Sci-Fi City

Universal Studios Accelerator

Accelerator

No height requirement
Accompanying parent: All children under 122cm

It’s a pretty wild ride. Think cups and saucers from good old fun fairs, but amped up with a sci-fi theme and a swanky ride design. Not for those who vomit easily after a few twirls. The one goes round and round and round and round with the full force of gravity. But it’s not too bad, as this is a really short ride.

Zone: Ancient Egypt

Universal Studios Treasure Hunters

Treasure Hunters

No height requirement
Accompanying parent: All children under 122cm

It’s a jeep and train ride both rolled into one. A jeep on a railway track! Young explorers can ‘drive’ their own jeep into an abandoned excavation site in ancient Egypt. Warning: This popular ride has one of the longest queues, and you might have to wait around 45 minutes.

Zone: New York

Universal Studios Spaghetti Space Chase

Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase

Height requirement: 92cm and above
Accompanying parent: All children under 122cm

The family can enjoy this high-flying ride as you zip through a space mission with Elmo and Super Grover 2.0.

Lights, Camera Action! Hosted by Steven Spielberg

No height requirement
Accompanying parent: All children under 122cm

An empty soundstage is the backdrop for a huge hurricane about to hit New York City.
