Goldilocks finds herself in the three bears’ house and when she gets discovered, she runs away. What happens next? That is where the child’s imagination comes in at Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, an interactive storytelling-and-craft play session at Playeum.
Goldilocks And The 3 Bears At Playeum – Interactive Storytelling for Children
On 7 & 8 December 2019, children are in for a treat at Playeum. Within the intimate setting of Playeum’s main hall, children will gather around to listen to an imaginative retelling of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears.
We sat in for a preview of this interactive session and were impressed by the enthusiasm of the young audience and their parents and the engaging way the story was presented.
Engaging Young Audiences
Goldilocks and the 3 Bears has been given the “Playeum touch”. Rather than being a one-way storytelling, it recognises the intelligence of a child and allows him or her to make contributions back to the story.
Storytellers Madhuri Kale and Mervyn Goh were both bursting with energy.
Madhuri, who has performed at venues such as the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, clearly knows a thing or two about interacting with an audience of children. Her inviting-style made sure it wasn’t long before little hands were shooting up in response to her questions.
Mervyn Goh’s warmth and cheery personality made him instantly likeable to the children. Armed with a ukulele, he brought a musical touch to the Goldilocks and the 3 Bears story.
Madhuri also custom-made the shadow puppets used in Goldilocks and the 3 Bears at Playeum. Through the combination of live acting, puppetry and actions, the 3- to 8-year-olds at the preview were completely spellbound.
By the end of the storytelling, children were giving lively suggestions about what Goldilocks could do next. The storytelling session had turned into a two-way exchange of ideas, sparking creative thinking and empowering the young audience to help Goldilocks make the right decision.
Play & Crafts
No visit to Playeum would be complete without a time of creative play.
After the storytelling session, children get to part in crafts based on the story they have just experienced.
Or simply enjoy a time of open-ended play! The child’s imagination is the only limit!
