McDonald’s Singapore has launched its Yakiniku Burger. Availabe from 25 April 2024, the McDonald’s Yakiniku Burger is available as either a Yakiniku Crispy Chicken Burger or a Yakiniku Beef Burger.

We decided to give the two McDonald’s Yakiniku burgers a try and see how they stacked up with each other.

The Yakiniku Beef Burger features 100% Quarter Pounder beef with savoury yakiniku sauce. It is dressed up with caramelised onions and shredded white cabbage before being sandwiched between fluffy semolina buns.

The second limited time burger is the Yakiniku Crispy Chicken Burger. This features a crispy chicken patty covered with the yakiniku sauce and complemented with caramelised onions and crunchy white cabbage between semolina buns.

We ordered both burgers and they came wrapped in paper wrappers that gave off hints of the sauce below.

Burgers appearance

They were good looking burgers and what made them look even more inviting was that the patties were so large that they were overflowing from the buns. The semolina buns gave the burger an added premium appearance.

Both burgers are similar. The difference between the two is in the patties.

Trying the Yakiniku Chicken burger

We tried the Yakiniku Chicken burger first. We liked the crunch of the crust of the patty. This was complemented by the textures of the white cabbage and lettuce. The yakiniku sauce was alright. It didn’t strongly evoke yakiniku flavours but tasted a bit savoury and sweet. We would like to say that it reminded us of yakitori but the crunch of the chicken patty wasn’t like any yakitori we have had before.

Yakiniku Beef burger

We appreciated the large beef patty that came with the Yakiniku Beef burger. In our minds, the colour and the consistency of the sauce made us think of the beloved Samurai Burger. However, the flavour was different.

Overall, we would give the McDonald’s Yakiniku burgers 3.5 out of 5. They didn’t give us the yakiniku vibes but they weren’t bad. Between the two of them, we personally preferred the chicken version.
