
Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations 2018 start 27 January 2018 and run till 16 March 2018 with paw-sitively plenty of festive activities for all to enjoy.
This year, the Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations adopts the theme “Blossoms of Happiness & Prosperity” and will see celebrations taking place around Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road, South Bridge Road and other streets at the historic Chinatown precinct.

Festivities for the Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations 2018 kick off on 27 January 2018 with the Official Light-Up and Opening Ceremony. Witness live performances by both local and overseas troupes and watch a display of fireworks and firecrackers along New Bridge Road and Eu Tong Sen Street.
Street Light-Up

The streets of Chinatown will be lit up with lanterns featuring designs done in collaboration with students from the Singapore University of Technology and Design. This year’s lanterns are inspired by canine friends and the four seasons of the year.
The Chinatown Chinese New Year 2018 street light up will take place from 7 pm to midnight from Sundays to Thursdays, and be extended till 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays. On 16 and 17 February, the first and second days of Chinese New Year 2018, the light-up will continue overnight till 6 am the next morning.
Festive Street Bazaar

Experience the sights and sounds of Chinatown at its festive finest at the Street Bazaar. Shop for traditional delicacies, yummy treats and festive decorations for the upcoming Year of the Dog.
The Chinatown Festive Street Bazaar will be open from 6 pm till 10.30 pm between 26 January to 15 February, with extended hours till 1 am on Chinese New Year Eve.
Nightly Stage Shows

Join the community in watching nightly performances featuring dance, music and song at Kreta Ayer Square. The stage shows will be held between 8 pm to 10.30 pm every evening.

Get an intimate look into Chinatown’s past on a guided walking tour around streets such as Sago Street, Pagodo Street and New Bridge Road. The Chinatown Walking Trail takes from 3.30 pm to 5 pm on selected days only and is limited to 10 participants only. Pre-registration is required at www.chinatownfestivals.sg
11th International Lion Dance Competition

Feel the pulsating beat of the drums as skilled lion dance troupes face-off with each other in the 11th International Lion Dance Competition. Tickets to the lion dance competition can be purchased from the Kreta Ayer Community Club or Chinatown Visitor Centre at Kreta Ayer Square.

In celebration of the Year of the Dog, the Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations 2018 will be holding a special dog-themed carnival on 3 February 2018 from 9 am to 12 pm. Dress up your dog in their Chinese New Year best and take part in a Dog Costume Competition or just bring them out for a morning to enjoy the festive atmosphere and cute treats that will be on sale.
