The Sesame Street theme song, with its lyrics of “Sunny day, Sweeping the clouds away”, has always brought joy to the faces of young children (and many grown-ups too). Now, Sesame Workshop, the non-profit behind Sesame Street is hoping to share the message of comfort and love during this period of the COVID-19 crisis by offering a wide range of free resources under the Caring for Each Other initiative to help children and families during the pandemic.

Sesame Street Resources for the COVID-19 Outbreak: Caring for Each OtherThe brand new Sesame Street content features the beloved characters and are designed to help parents manage anxiety, create routines and foster playful learning at home with their young children. Virtual play dates are planned to launched soon as well.

Available at SesameStreet.org/caring, the Caring for Each Other content will be regularly updated as the COVID-19 coronavirus situation evolves. There will be brand new content on topics like handwashing, how to cough or sneeze properly, and how taking good care of yourself and others.

“Around the world, young children’s lives are being turned upside down, and parents and caregivers are looking for ways to give their children—and themselves—a sense of stability in this new normal,” said Dr. Rosemarie Truglio, Senior Vice President for Curriculum and Content, Sesame Workshop. “But there are things parents and caregivers can do to face each day with optimism. Sesame Street is here to provide the caring adults in children’s lives with the resources they need to help children, and foster their healthy development at home.”

In addition, over 110 free Sesame Street ebooks are available on all major ebook platforms including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble Nook, Google Play, and Kobo. Free eBooks can also be found on the SesameStreet.org website.
