Farewell, Sentosa Merlion: Promotions & Activities To Say Goodbye To The 37-Metre-Tall Landmark Before It Closes In October 2019 To Make Way For New Developments

The Sentosa Merlion is closing after more than 20 years. One Faber Group announced in a press release that its last day of operations will be on Sunday, 20 October 2019. A month-long set of promotions and activities will be held from 21 September to 20 October 2019 to mark its closing.

The Sentosa Merlion was completed in 1995. It was designed by Australian artist James Martin. It will now make way for the upcoming Sentosa Sensoryscape project, a new thoroughfare which is part of long-term plans to remake Sentosa and the adjacent island of Pulau Brani.

Redevelopment works in the area will start by the year-end. No date has been set for the demolition of the Sentosa Merlion just yet.
