In Malaysian and Indonesian folklore, Sang Kancil, also known as the lesser mousedeer, is regarded as an intelligent and quick-witted animal. Stories are told of how the mousedeer gets himself into sticky situations before finding ways to outsmart and outwit his adversaries.
In I Theatre’s upcoming production, Hey Little Mousedeer!, audiences can encounter Sang Kancil and his friends in a musicial tales that weaves together the colourful heritage of the region through fun and fascinating stories. In addition to Sang Kancil, meet with Harimau the Tiger, Monyet the friendly and helpful monkey and Cicak, the tiny and slow lizard. With themes of saving the environment, bravery and facing the consequences of your actions, there is something for everyone.
In conjunction with I Theatre’s Hey Little Mousedeer!, Little Day Out is proud to present five FUN activity sheets inspired by the tales of the mousedeer. Get these children’s activity sheets and more from Little Day Out Shop and help Kancil and his friends along their adventures.
