Children lent their voices to the message of conservation and environmental protection at the Green Carpet Awards 2013.

Held on 6 July 2013 at the Nanyang Polytechnic Auditorium, the Green Carpet Awards ceremony follows a competition conducted between January and May this year involving more than 5,000 primary and secondary school children from 40 schools taking to nature trails around Singapore.

Armed with Nikon DSLR cameras, the children took photographs of nature and prepared short essays capturing their perspectives on the photographs they had taken.

Commenting on the entries received, Dr Francis Downey, Vice President of National Geographic Learning, who served on the international judging panel for the Awards said, “The Green Carpet Awards provides the youth with a platform to express their creativity and teach us how they see the natural world, as well as to inspire all of us to care for our planet.”
