Make time for your family this 28 May and be a part of the first Family Duathlon at the annual Families for Life Celebrations! Get the best of both worlds in running and cycling over a family-friendly distance of 5km and enjoy the beautiful city skyline, starting from St Andrew’s Road, in front of the iconic National Gallery Singapore.

Held in conjunction with Car-Free Sunday, this means families can enjoy running and cycling on the closed roads on a bright Sunday morning at their own pace and comfort.

Exciting family-bonding activities lined up at the Families for Life Celebrations:

– Families for Life Duathlon, 8:15 am
5km non-competitive and non-timed event that includes a run-and-cycle route along the Civic District’s closed roads.

– Family Walk, 8:30 am
Take a leisure walk down Civic District’s closed roads to Telok Ayer and Amoy Street with entertainment and activities to participate in along the way. If your family is spotted as the “Largest Family Contingent”, you will win $500 worth of dining vouchers! Come dressed in similar outfits or accessories to be easily identified!

There are 2 routes to choose from –  The 1 km Family Walk will be along St Andrews’ Road, Stamford Road, Esplanade Drive and ends at Fullerton Road. The 5km walk will bring you to Telok Ayer and Amoy Street to enjoy the heritage activities by Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan.

– Breakfast Picnic, 8 am to 12:30 pm
Join us for a tantalising morning picnic at the Padang. There will be hawker delights with delicious local fare, organic produce at the Farmers’ Market, freshly-brewed coffee from Coffee Bandits Food Truck. Keep a look out for the Families for Life Mobile Cafe for complimentary snacks and drinks!

– Family Sports and Games
Play together at the inflatable sports zone such as Basketball Hoops, Soccer Goal Kicks, Archery or the Giant Obstacle Course. Team up and challenge each other at the Human Foosball, Nerf Shoot Out, or gigantic versions of Ping Pong and Jenga. Get active and sweat it out at the Family Fitness Party with Zumba, KPopXFitness and Laughter Yoga. There are also lots of bouncy castles for the little ones too!

– “Drive-In” Movie Screening & Picnic, 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Wind down and chillax as the sun sets and spend quality family time with an evening picnic. Get creative and design your own unique family cardboard car to enjoy a “drive-in” movie screening of Despicable Me 2. Groove to the tunes by music duo Jack and Rai and get your free popcorn from the Families for Life Mobile Cafe to complete your movie experience.

– Volunteerism and Charity Drive
Take this opportunity at the Celebrations to learn about how you can contribute through acts of kindness and volunteering and play an active part to reach out to the disadvantaged and look out for each other at the SG Cares booth.

People with special needs are part of our community and should have equal access to opportunities and good quality of life. The Purple Parade is a movement that supports the inclusion & celebrates the abilities of persons with special needs. Bring home exclusive Purple Parade merchandise at their Charity Drive at the Celebrations.
