Viknesh Dairy Farm is tucked about as far away as you can imagine, at the edge of Singapore. If you wish to pay a visit to this cow farm in Singapore, you will need to be prepared to make your way deep into the Kranji Countryside for the experience.
From what we know, Viknesh Dairy Farm is the only dairy farm remaining in Singapore. While in the past, there used to be cows bred to produce milk at what is now Dairy Farm Nature Park, the cows can now be found at Lim Chu Kang Lane 8a.
Visiting Viknesh Dairy Farm: Singapore’s Only Cow Farm
We made the journey up to the Kranji Countryside to pay a visit to Viknesh Dairy Farm. The pleasant drive along Lim Chu Kang Road, with forest on either side, made us feel as if we were no longer in Singapore.

The road took us past the old site of Hay Dairies Goat Farm, and this made us realise how much more accessible Hay Dairies Goat Farm is in its current location opposite Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.
Finally, we made the turn off onto Lim Chu Kang Lane 8 and then a second right turn into Lane 8A.
Viknesh Dairy Farm is the only farm located along Lane 8A and immediately to the left upon turning in.
About Viknesh Dairy Farm
Viknesh Dairy Farm has been around since 2003 and focuses on producing fresh cow’s milk.
The farm has quite a modest layout. There is a building in front, just beside the car park and there are two animal sheds behind the building.
Deeply rooted in Hindu values, Viknesh Dairy Farm also provides cow and calf services for house warmings, temple prayers and auspicious days. In fact, if you have ever made your way to the cattle farm at POLI in Little India during the Pongal Festival, you would have met their cows and bulls.
Meet and Feed the Cows (Paid Experience)
Since there was no one at the building, we made our way to rear where the sheds are located.
We were greeted by the friendly proprietor and asked him about viewing the cows.
He informed us that if we wanted to visit and feed the cows, there would be fee of $20 for a family.
Those who are thinking of visiting Viknesh Dairy Farm to see the cows should take note of this. We were okay with this.
With the admission fee, we would be able to get up close to the cows in second shed. The first shed, where there are also goats being kept, is not open to the public.
We had the chance to enter into the shed where there were both cows, bulls and even calfs in the pen.
We were given a heap of grass and were told that we could only feed the adult bovine.
It was an experience to grab a handful of grass and feed the animals, trying to avoid their long tongues that came out to reach for the fresh feed.
We did enjoy the overall experience. However, you should be prepared for farm smells.
A visit to Viknesh Dairy Farm is a more rustic experience than visits to other farms such as Hay Dairies Goat Farm and Qian Hu Fish Farm, but we appreciated the opportunity to do so.
After we had finished feeding the cows and bulls, we made our way back to the front to wash our hands.
In addition to the cow feeding experience, you can also take home some Viknesh Dairy Farm fresh milk to enjoy at home. This can be purchased from the building in front by asking the owner. In addition to fresh milk, they also sell yogurt.
The products can also be purchased through the Viknesh Dairy Farm website.
