Give your used sports shoes a second life as you turn your running shoes into playgrounds and running tracks! In collaboration with Dow, ActiveSG is going to be collecting old sports shoes and recycling them to become sports infrastructures such as jogging tracks, fitness corners and playgrounds.

Kinds of shoes to donate to Old Shoe, New Future

From now till 30 November 2020, if you have any sports shoes, school shoes, and football boots without metal studs that are no longer being worn, consider donating them to this ActiveSG Campaign. Please do not drop off soiled shoes to avoid contamination. Although the shoes need not be washed before donating, it is requested that you ensure the shoes are generally clean. There is no limit to the number of shoes you can donate.

Donations can be dropped off at any of the 62 locations around Singapore at various sports centres, stadiums, decathlon sores and JD Sports stores. Some schools are also opening up their premise for students and staff to drop off their rubberised shoes for recycling. Click here for more specific locations.

For those wondering what the process for recycling the shoes are, the rubber shoes of the shoes are sent to the grinding facility to be made into granules. They will then be made into sports surfaces at various outdoor locations.

After you have made your donation, you can share it with ActiveSG and get an e-badge as a token of appreciation. Together, we can build a more sustainable future for ourselves and Singapore!
