Those may be interested in fostering and find out more about what it is like at the Fostering Open House on 13 July 2024 at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Organised by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and Fostering Agencies, this community event will be held from 9 am to 2 pm.

Participants in the Fostering Open House can look forward to learning more from those who have fostered children before and take part in activities to get a better idea of the fostering journey.

Panel Sharing

Listen to inspiring fostering stories and first-hand experiences from foster parents and a former foster youth as they share their fostering journeys, the challenges faced and the heartfelt moments that make fostering all worthwhile.

Interactive Booths

Visit the booths of fostering agencies and partners and take part in interactive activities. Participants can play with human-sized Jenga blocks, browse foster children’s artworks and write messages to foster children. Human Library Participants will get to engage with foster parents and former foster children from different backgrounds to find out more about their fostering journeys.

Breakout Sessions

Participants who are keen to take their parenting skills to the next level can also look forward to attending either one of two exciting breakout sessions conducted by industry professionals on the following topics and talking points:

  • Raising Screenwise Kids: Empowering kids to navigate the virtual world by Focus on the Family Singapore – Get to understand the impact of various forms of media and how it affects children’s perceptions, attitudes and behaviour, how to effectively set boundaries for your children and get equipped with practical skills to engage your children while leveraging media and technology.
  • Let us be “A.P.R.O” (Awareness, Plan & Prioritise, Relax & Recreate, Open to options) in Parent Self-Care: Taking care of self to better care for others – Learn to identify stressors and triggers in your life that may impact effective parenting and equip yourself with effective strategies that help to lessen and manage the identified stressors and triggers.
