Launching what they call Singapore’s first-ever Bak Kut Teh Ramen, the heritage brand has taken its signature broths — the aromatic Original Klang Herbal Soup and the creamy Japanese Paitan Pepper Soup — and reimagined them as the soul of a ramen bowl.

En Yeoh’s is part of the EN Group, the Japanese restaurant chain behind names like Tamago-EN, Tempura-EN and En Dining. It might seem like an unlikely home for a traditional Malaysian-style Bak Kut Teh, but that cross-cultural DNA is precisely what makes this new menu so interesting. The brand has long been known for its Klang herbal broth.

What We Sampled
The Prime Ribs Herbal Bak Kut Teh Ramen ($14.90) is the classic for a reason. En Yeoh’s has built its reputation on its Klang herbal broth, and you can taste the care that goes into it — 15 premium herbs and ingredients slow-cooked into a dark-coloured broth.
I’ll be honest: herbal broths are not usually my thing. But this one surprised me. It sits on the lighter end of the herbal spectrum, without the medicinal intensity that can sometimes put people off.
The bowl came generously loaded with a whole prime rib, braised mushrooms, tofu puff, and choy sum. It was a nicely balanced spread that made the dish feel like a complete, satisfying meal rather than just a novelty fusion experiment. The ramen noodles added a pleasing chewiness that soaked up the broth beautifully.
If the herbal ramen is the classic, the Hokkaido Pork Collar and Stomach Paitan Pepper Bak Kut Teh Ramen ($16.50) is the standout. Drawing on the EN Group’s expertise, they’ve crafted a Japanese Paitan broth made by vigorously boiling pork bones for hours until the fat and collagen emulsify into a rich, velvety soup.
The soup is further enhanced with various aromatics, including a healthy dose of pepper. This results in a broth that delivers the familiar peppery punch of traditional Singapore Bak Kut Teh, but wrapped in a milkier, creamier texture.
The toppings were equally plenteous. We counted several slices of Hokkaido pork collar alongside pieces of pork stomach — and the stomach deserves a special mention. It was well-cleaned and beautifully prepared, with no trace of the off-putting funkiness that can make this cut divisive.
Each ramen comes as part of a set, paired with a drink (your choice of Barley, Water Chestnut, or Calamansi) and a trio of sides: Braised Peanuts, Ngoh Hiang, and Edamame. The star of the sides was the Edamame, which arrived coated in a punchy, savoury XO sauce.
Sides and Appetisers
The Bak Kut Teh Lava Eggs ($2.90) are a spin on the soft-boiled marinated eggs you’d find in any Japanese ramen shop. En Yeoh’s swaps the usual Japanese Tare for a Bak Kut Teh sauce — what I suspect is a concentrated reduction of their herbal broth. The finishing touch is a scattering of black tobiko, which adds a pop and briny contrast to each bite.
Final Thoughts
Between the two mains, the Paitan Pepper Ramen edges ahead for its sheer textural richness but both bowls are worth trying. At $14.90 and $16.50, the value is hard to argue with. Each bowl arrives loaded with ingredients, from a whole prime rib or generous cuts of Hokkaido pork collar and stomach to braised mushrooms, tofu puff, and choy sum.
The fact that each bowl comes as a set meal, with a drink and three sides, only sweetens the deal. Whether you’re a lifelong Bak Kut Teh devotee or someone who’s always found the herbal variety a little intimidating, there’s something here for you.
