With rainy weather happening on a daily basis, I’ve mostly been craving comfort foods like soup noodles, rice bowls and braised dishes. Warm, savory, rich in flavour and a reminder of happy memories and emotions. So when the chance came along to go try out some of their new dishes at Eat 3 Bowls, I was more than happy to make the trip down to their new outlet at Square 2 in Novena.

The fact that Eat 3 Bowls has been around for 11 years, and is celebrating its anniversary, is a testament to how good and value-for-money the food is. Diners just can’t get enough of the simple yet delicious Taiwanese classics!
Now Eat 3 Bowls has added several new dishes, some of which are new creations, to their menu and they are definitely worth a try!

Taiwanese Bubble Tea and other Taiwanese Drinks!
Brown Sugar Pearl Fresh Milk Tea and Apple Sidra were our drink choices for the day, in keeping with the Taiwanese theme. The bubble tea was nothing mind-blowing, but still enjoyable. The Apple Sidra was another good choice for the meal as its crisp, cider-like acidity cuts through any fatty food and cleanses the palate between mouthfuls of strong flavours.
We were treated to 3 mains at Eat 3 Bowls, namely Braised Pork Belly Rice, Zha Jiang Noodles with Pork Chop and Crispy Fried Shrimp Omelette Rice.
Braised Pork Belly Rice
The Braised Pork Belly Rice ($9.90) consisted of a sizeable piece of pork belly for those who prefer theirs in this form, half an egg and some pickled mustard greens. I personally prefer the regular Braised Pork Rice with the diced pork belly pieces that have become soft and gelatinous after a long period of braising. Still the Pork Belly was tender and moist, and made for a satisfying bowl of food.
Zha Jiang Noodles with Pork Chop
The Zha Jiang Noodles with Pork Chop was quite good too. A simple bowl of noodles, topped with a thick minced pork sauce, accompanied with a side of a fried Pork Chop. It’s definitely good value at $12.90. The pork chop could have been more crispy and with a touch more seasoning, but it was devoured very quickly nonetheless.
Crispy Fried Shrimp Omelette Rice
We ordered another main that caught our eye on the menu and that was the Crispy Fried Shrimp Omelette Rice ($11.90). Soft eggs that were cooked just right, draped over the rice, covered with a savoury brown sauce and topped with a protein of your choice, chicken cutlet, pork chop, fried shrimp or salted crispy chicken. It is a compelling alternative to the other more traditional Taiwanese mains on the menu.
Crispy Fried Tofu
The new Crispy Fried Tofu ($7.50) is such a simple yet moreish side. Deep fried Tofu (not smelly Tofu), served with cucumber, pickled vegetables and drizzled with a specialty garlic sauce. I definitely could have finished it all by myself!
Eat 3 Bowls’ Signature Dishes and other Popular Taiwanese Foods
Eat 3 Bowls also announced that the Signature Braised Beef Noodles ($16.90) is no longer exclusive to their NEX at Serangoon outlet and is now available across all outlets islandwide. Do head down soon to try the new dishes as well as the regular Taiwanese rice bowls, Mee Sua, Taiwanese Cold Noodles, popular Taiwanese Street Food and Egg Crepe Rolls!
