“Daddy, what does this button do?” asks my eight-year old daughter Alysa, as she curiously hits the switch in the Siloso Beach Resort hot water spa pool. I let out a yelp of surprise as a jet of water hit my back with full force, startling the other guests in the pool nearby at the Sentosa hotel, much to the amusement of my little girl.

Siloso Beach Resort Waterfall

We were enjoying a lazy Saturday afternoon in one of highlights of Siloso Beach Resort – its unique landscaped natural spring water pool. With spa pools, water slides and a cascading 18m high waterfall, the laid-back vibe of the pool transported us away from the cares of the daily life and into a lush, tropical paradise.

Siloso Beach Resort's PoolSiloso Beach Resort’s pool is kept minimally chlorinated through a more environmentally friendly and healthy process called salt ionization. This results in clean, lightly salted water without the burning eyes nor caustic smell from chlorine-additive pools.

Getting ready to enjoy the pool at Siloso Beach ResortWhile the water isn’t very deep at 1.2m, as there are no lifeguards, kids shorter than 1.4m must be accompanied by an adult. Nonetheless, that didn’t stop Alysa from having a splashing good time and making new friends with the other kids at the water slides.

Eco Resort on Sentosa

We were slowly easing into our weekend family getaway at Sentosa’s Siloso Beach Resort.

Natural surroundings at Siloso Beach ResortThe property boasts 156 rooms, 10 family rooms, 16 roof garden suites and 12 villas built over eight levels on a hillside, blending in with the natural environment.

Family villa at Siloso Beach ResortWe stayed at a comfortable and spacious family villa that had a king-sized four poster bed, two single beds and a personal jacuzzi – oh, and a tree growing through the room.

View from the Villa at Siloso Beach ResortMy wife’s favourite feature of the villa was the floor-to-ceiling glass wall in the living room. This offered clear views of the surrounding foliage, accentuating the feeling of being in a rainforest.

View from a rooftop garden suiteWe also took the opportunity to peek at one of the Resort’s roof garden suites too. It was perfect for a romantic couple’s retreat with the suite’s second level boasting an open-air bathtub complete with hydrotherapy bubbles and stunning views of the sea.

Siloso Beach Resort, along Siloso Beach at SentosaIn the evening, we strolled out to Siloso Beach, conveniently located at the Resort’s doorstep. This highly-popular Sentosa beach features a wide variety of activities for those seeking thrills or to chill. There are also plenty of beach bars and restaurants to choose from as well.

Siloso Beach Resort’s Eco Alfresco Café

The next morning, a hearty breakfast was waiting at the Resort’s Eco Alfresco Café. Dishes were prepared with herbs and spices hand-picked from the resort’s rooftop sustainable farm. The restaurant’s walls were adorned with awesome photo prints of local plants and wildlife close up, all of which were shot by members of the hotel staff.

The compost is in turn used to plant vegetables and herbs in the rooftop garden. An adopter of green technologies, the Resort even has a heat exchange chiller system to use the heat waste from the air conditioning system to heat water for the rooms.

Siloso Beach Resort WeekendBefore we knew it, the weekend getaway came to an end. Nonetheless, we left Siloso Beach Resort with happy memories, fresh knowledge about green initiatives and a souvenir in the form of a slight sunburn.
