Anyaman: Sculptures Created Out of Leaves

Nine larger-than-life sculptures showcase anyaman, the centuries-old Indonesian art of weaving plant materials.

The sculptures were handcrafted by 27 Balinese artisans over 900+ hours.

Both beautiful and stunning, these woven works on display within the Flower Dome as part of Orchid Extravaganza depict Indonesia’s rich wildlife, folklore, and cultural icons.

As you walk through them, you will find yourself amidst replicas of Meru towers — the tiered shrines central to Balinese temple architecture.

Another highlight at the Orchid Extravaganza flower display is a recreation of the uma mbatangu.

This is a peaked house and is known for its dramatic central tower, its tall peaks traditionally signify a more prominent ancestral lineage.

You can step into one of the recreations and also view some traditional textiles.

Orchids to Look Out for at the Orchid Extravaganza 2026 Display

While at the floral display at the Flower Dome, do keep a look out for some delightful orchids around the Flower Field.

Moon orchid

The Moon orchid (Phalaenopsis amabilis) is one of Indonesia’s three national flowers. Look closely to really appreciate its elegant sprays of broad white blooms with soft yellow centres.

Deer-horned orchid

The Deer-horned orchid (Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi) gets its name from its distinctive antler-shaped flower stalks. Its star-shaped flowers are streaked in yellow-green and chestnut.

The Tiger orchid (Grammatophyllum speciosum) is the world’s largest orchid species. It has flower spikes that can exceed 2 metres in height and bear hundreds of tawny yellow blooms.
