4. Chinatown Chinese New Year Light Up and Street Market
From now till 22 February 2020, Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road and South Bridge Road have been lit up for Chinatown’s Chinese New Year celebrations. Up till 24 Jan, Chinese New Year’s Eve, pay a visit to the Festive Street Bazaar. There will be a countdown party to the Year of the Rat, starting from 9.30 pm. On 2 February, Chingay 2020 will be coming to Chinatown in the evening from 6 pm to 10 pm.
5. Hunt for Ang Baos
Go on the hunt for cute ang boas around Singapore for Chinese New Year 2020. Visit museums and galleries for special edition red packets or ang baos. Our favourites are those available at Science Centre Singapore and Singapore Sustainability Gallery. For those who still have Frozen 2 fever, there are Disney’s Frozen Ang Baos and mandarin orange carriers at Changi Airport too.

Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay will be holding Huayi 2020 Chinese Festival of Arts from 31 Jan to 9 Feb. Look forward to special commissions, presentations and artistic showcases. Theatre shows include 7 Sages of the Bamboo Grove, The Wedding of the Rats, and Gullinkami- Puppetry Theatre for Children. Families can also look forward to parent-child workshops and storytelling sessions to engage in the arts together.
8. Bountiful Spring at Our Tampines Hub
Those living in the East and looking for things to do for Chinese New Year 2020 in Singapore will be happy to know that Our Tampines Hub has a month-long community engagement programme planned. Head over to the CNY Bazaar from now till 22 Jan and enjoy cultural stage performances on the weekends between 11 Jan and 9 Feb. Be part of the OTH Community Lo Hei which is seeking to find its way into the Singapore Book of Records for the largest vegetarian Community Lo Hei. There will also be a CNY 2020 concert, Spring Melodies, on 8 Feb, at the Town Square. On the evening of 9 Feb, the Chingay Float Displays will be there too.
