Co-authored by Chef Jean-Charles Dubois from Balzac Brasserie & Bar and Cambodian writer/poet Ms Ravie Khing,Around the World with Sophie & Remyis now on sale for $15. Proceeds from the sale of the book will go toward Open Book, a non-governmental organisation behind a library in Phnom Penh that provides a safe place for all to read, including children who live on the streets.

“The book conveys important ideas like the value of friendships, passing of knowledge from one generation to another and learning about different cultures of the world. But most of all, it’s a fascinating story that a child would have fun reading, and hopefully cooking with!” says Chef Dubois.

At a parent-child cooking class conducted on 10 September 2013 at ToTT to celebrate the launch of the cookbook, Chef Dubois was assisted by his five-year old daughter, Charleigh Sophie, as he led class participants in preparing popular dishes such as Butter Chicken, Chocolate Milk Tiramisu and Brittany Crepe with Bananas.

Celebrity participants included Mervyn Goh, host, actor and founder of Act 3 Academy. Recounting his experience, Mervyn, who was there with his niece Sarah, said, “Cooking with children is a great way to bond and it’s fun! During our growing up days our moms preferred to keep us out of the kitchen. Cooking is a life skill that you can take with you wherever you go”.

The cookbook, Around the World with Sophie & Remy, is now on sale at Balzac Brasserie and ToTT.
