Mother’s Day 2017 in Singapore falls on Sunday, 14 May. It is a day to celebrate and recognise the special place that mums have in our lives and to honour them for the many roles they play.

Elizabeth Ann Buttle

The name may not sound familiar but Elizabeth Ann Buttle holds the record for being the mum with the longest interval between kids. Her first, Belinda Buttle, was born on 19 May 1956 when Elizabeth Ann Buttle was 19 years old. Her next kid, Joseph Buttle was born 20 November 1997. That’s an age gap of 41 years and 185 days!

Mother’s Day is one of the biggest days of the years for florists. It is estimated that a quarter of the flower purchased throughout the year are purchased on Mother’s Day. The most popular choice of flower – the carnation.
