Discover the secret world of animals, explore what makes a video game great, or investigate different natural energy sources. These are just some of the engaging themes at The British Council’s June 2024 Holidays Camps that allow students to explore the world beyond English.

The British Council’s June 2024 Holidays Camps are designed for Early Years to Secondary students. The camps have different age-appropriate themes that use English to explore the world around us.

Beyond developing students’ written and spoken communication skills, camps also encourage problem-solving, collaboration and creativity. Students get to strengthen their vocabulary and grammar while developing their world knowledge and intellectual curiosity.

This is done through activities such as games, crafts and hands-on experiments. Group research projects allow students to collaborate and make new friends at the camps. All camps are led by internationally qualified, experienced and professional teachers.

Camps are held at the British Council’s Napier Road Centre and Toa Payoh Centre.


The British Council’s June 2024 Holiday Camps for All Ages

Here’s a look at the British Council’s Holiday Camps taking place this June 2024 for different ages. Camps run from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 1 pm* or 1 pm to 5 pm** (PSLE Intensive camp only.)

Early Years

The British Council’s June 2024 Holiday Camps - Early Years

K1 and K2 children will have a fun time at the Early Years camps where they get to explore exciting themes like space, snow and animals.

Discovering the Universe: An Imaginative Journey Through Space (27 to 31 May) – Unravel the wonders of the planets and the solar system while developing vocabulary to describe characters and settings.

Animal Adventures in the Snow (3 to 7 June) – Engage in drama, crafts and games to improve literacy while learning the secrets of how animals make their homes in the snow.

Rise and Shine on Bumble Farm: A Language and Phonics Adventure (10 to 14 June) – Focusing on farm animals and emergent phonics, children will get to learn about responsibility and teamwork as they explore how a farm works.

Best Dressed Aliens: An Adventure in Growth Mindset and Emotional Intelligence (18 to 21 June) – Go on an out-of-the-world adventure based on how aliens respond to feedback in space. With science experiments, crafts and interactive games, children will pick up reading, writing and speaking skills while building a growth mindset.

Primary

The British Council’s June 2024 Holiday Camps - Primary

The British Council’s holiday camps for Primary level students provide a positive and inclusive environment that fosters a combination of language and other core skills such as critical thinking, digital literacy and leadership. The camps are tailored to the students’ levels.

Read and Discover (27 to 31 May) – Students explore books that delve into topics like Amazing Animals and Being Brave and learn to relate them back to their personal experiences. They will develop text decoding, critical thinking and review skills while taking part in projects to dig deeper into the books.

Great World: Great Writing Skills (3 to 7 June) – Discover the wonders of the world by learning about great people, places and discoveries. Students get to develop both fiction and non-fiction writing skills and learn to use words to persuade others before finally producing a video about our Great World.

Journey to Comprehension: Reading Comprehension Skills (10 to 14 June) – Diary entries, poetry, narratives and reports are some of the texts that students get to explore in this camp for P1s to P4s. They will work together and gain greater confidence in understanding different themes and narratives.

Connected World: Public Speaking (18 to 21 June) – Students will investigate the ways that people, places and the planet interact while gaining confidence to express themselves through presentations and stories. Each day is centred around topics like Transport, New Energy and Global Humans.

PSLE Intensive (3 to 7 June; 10 to 14 June) – P6 students who wish to hone their English language skills for the upcoming exams can opt for this camp. By the end of the week, students will have sharpened their comprehension and composition skills for the PSLE. The PSLE Intensive camp takes place from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Secondary

The British Council’s June 2024 Holiday Camps - Secondary

Secondary students are not forgotten. The British Council is offering two engaging holiday camps for older learners during the June holidays.

Penning Progress: Ideas & Impact (10 to 14 June) – This dynamic writing course helps students develop their writing skills through formats like essays, narratives and proposals. Students will develop critical thinking and global awareness as they investigate topics like Visionary Pioneers and Invention and Innovation.

Navigating Adversity: Speaking Skills in Survival Scenarios (18 to 21 June) – Survival-themed texts come under the spotlight in the Secondary holiday camp. Students will participate in discussions and presentations to enhance their ability to communicate effectively – in case they ever need to talk their way out of survival situations!

This June 2024 school holidays, take the opportunity to let your child expand his or her horizons and explore the world through The British Council’s exciting themed camps.
