The maker spaces are part of Vivita, a global non-profit organisation with a mission to empower children with the confidence to imagine and the skills to create the future.
Vivita believes that creativity is the cornerstone for future generations of innovators, founders and impact makers who will lead the positive change. Vivita develops experiences, services and products to help children obtain the skillset, toolset and mindset of innovation, creative thinking, and entrepreneurship.
Empowering Children at Vivistop
Vivistop is a creative studio providing children with the freedom to explore and the opportunity to create the future. It is equipped with a wide variety of modern and professional creative tools and materials.
Children can explore many possibilities of making and work on any project of their choice. There is no “lesson”, or structured curriculum or assessments. Children from ages 9 to 16 are free to experiment with different ideas and explore new skills without the fear of failure. Vivita aims to build a community of self-directed learners through this format.
The opportunities to create are endless – children can choose to craft, sew, crotchet, paint, build, saw, 3D-print, upcycle, invent, code, design with all materials provided.
Membership is also free of charge for children 9 to 16 years, as part of Vivita’s social impact effort to empower children from all walks of life. Members can gain access to Vivistops all over the world and sign up for free maker sessions held daily.
In addition, Vivita’s creative team with professional making skills help facilitate and support each child’s journey to empower them in their various projects.
Vivistop also works with various schools, government and community organisations, conducting various programs in maker, design and creative upcycling education. This is aligned with its aspirations to empower children in Singapore with the skill and mindset to create.
Programmes at Vivistop
To support Vivita Singapore’s work, Vivistop runs programmes for both children and adults. Sign up for Vivistop’s ticketed programmes to get a taster of more structured sessions.
During the June school holidays, children can sign up for 1-day to 3-day programmes including navigating big emotions through Zine-making, crafting tessellations with stamps, shoe upcycling, digital plotting (cricut), learning space design through AI, fundamentals of graphic design as well as a generative AI workshop for parents and educators.
In addition, families should save the date for 23 June, Sunday for Vivistop’s Open House. This will let you see the maker space in person and find out more about signing up as a Vivita member. Check the latest details on Vivistop’s socials.
