From 30 April 2026 to 1 November 2026, When Art Meets Nature, a children’s art exhibition at National Gallery Singapore, invites kids go on a sensorial journey and explore nature through the eyes of two artists.
When Art Meets Nature at National Gallery Singapore
When Art Meets Nature features two installations – Peace Forest by Singaporean artist Soh Ee Shaun and Where the River Runs by Yenting Hsu.
The exhibition is co-curated by the Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts and National Gallery Singapore.

Peace Forest
Peace Forest was inspired by the artist’s nature walks near his home where he spotted birds, insects and even a colugo.
Located within the Keppel Centre for Art Education, Peace Forest is not only a spot where parents and kids can relax in a calm setting inspired by the forest, but it also encourages kids to appreciate the beauty of nature.
There is a card that highlights various animals represented in the art work and is a chance for kids to play a game of mini scavenger hunt to look for the animals.
There is also a woodblock art station where kids can create their own special art work, inspired by the inhabitants of the Peace Forest.
Where the River Runs
Step away from the Keppel Centre for Art Education and head over to the City Hall Alcove at the bottom of the grand staircase for a more reflective work.
Where the River Runs is an installation that is inspired by the Dahan River in Taiwan.
In Taiwan, there are many cultural traditions and beliefs tied to the rivers and the seas. These serve as the inspiration for the Where the River Runs installation.
A series of documents represent the stories for the Dahan while a video installation provides visuals of the river.
At the heart of the installation are the oral stories captured from the people who live along the river and have witnessed its changes.
Have a seat and pick up a pair of headphones to listen to these stories. It is a chance to reflect on how human life and nature is intertwined.
We think that this installation is something that even adults can appreciate, or perhaps even appreciate more than children.
