The Westin Singapore – Family Staycation that’s Wellness-centric

The Westin Singapore - Family Staycation that's Wellness-centric

We were welcomed in awe at Westin with a majestic floor-to-ceiling panoramic view of the Marina Bay Waterfront and South China Sea at Singapore’s highest Sky Lobby Lounge at Level 32. With luxurious plush cushion armchairs, rich earthy tones and stylish geometric feature ceilings, the interior exuded quiet luxury and modern elegance.

Thoughtfully decorative timbre partitions and cosy seat arrangements facilitated the many casual and business conversations. Guests just relaxing in the lounge were serenaded by the live melodious tunes at the Grand Piano.

As we entered the Larger Guest Room Suite (46sqm) on Level 40, we were immediately stunned by the beautiful skylit marble bathroom with the City Skyline view.

The room was calming and cosy in a neutral and warm palette

The room was calming and cosy in a neutral and warm palette – and the kids loved looking out to the panoramic views of the Sea or City Skyline especially when the sky turned to dusk.

Our room came with a King size Next-Generation Heavenly Bed and sofa bed – and it truly lived up to its Heavenly-ness. Our backs felt well rested with the enhanced support and plushness – we didn’t want to get out of bed at all!

The kids too had a turn on the Heavenly Bed and overslept on all their naps.

When we checked into the room, we were also pleasantly delighted with a platter of delightful local treats to welcome our stay. Thoughtfully placed throughout the room and bathroom were also little wellness message cards like Sleep Well, Relax Well, Take Time for yourself. We especially loved the Lavender Balm which helped ease us into a restorative sleep each night.

Rediscover Chinatown Heritage with MONOPOLY: HIDDEN Singapore

Rediscover Chinatown Heritage with MONOPOLY: HIDDEN Singapore

In the afternoon, we were off to Chinatown to experience MONOPOLY: HIDDEN Singapore! We used our pre-loaded EZ cards and took the MRT from Shenton Way to Maxwell on the TEL. There, we took our golden tickets and activated Mr Monopoly and cheeky companion, Void Deck Cat on Whats App.

Through an exchange of playful chatter and story telling by Mr Monopoly and Void Deck Cat, we tried to uncover hidden clues to identify iconic heritage locations in Chinatown. The girls loved counting and using the monopoly money to exchange for heritage souvenirs or snacks.

iconic heritage shops like Kele selling traditional pineapple tarts

We thoroughly enjoyed rediscovering Chinatown’s heritage as we visited iconic heritage shops like Kele selling traditional pineapple tarts,  curing our thirst at Pacto’s artisanal brew at KADA Maxwell, a restored 1920s building. The girls got a taste of the Little Nonya at Elegance of Nanyang where they exchanged their monopoly money for useful batik coin purses.

Hai Seng Porcelain, nestled in the hood of Chinatown Complex.

The last stop was Hai Seng Porcelain, nestled in the hood of Chinatown Complex. The girls were fascinated with the rows of mini tingkats and rooster enamel cups displayed and wanted to buy everything. The old lady was charmed by the girls but strictly no discount she said. Left with only 50 monopoly dollars each, the girls had to learn to be content to redeem only 1 beautiful flowery enamel plate each. Tired out for the day, we retreated back to The Westin with yummy local food delivery-in from Lau Pa Sat.

Eat Well in a Diverse Dining Buffet Experience at Cook & Brew

Eat Well in a Diverse Dining Buffet Experience at Cook & Brew

The next morning, we headed to Cook & Brew at Level 33 for the Eat well Breakfast. We were ushered to a beautiful sun-lit table with a gorgeous floor-to-ceiling view overlooking the South China Sea – Hello St John’s & Sisters Island! There are also luxurious leather seat options for those who want to avoid the morning sun.

Buffet breakfast was extremely kids-friendly and included western choices like pancakes, waffles, hash browns, and asian choices such as porridge, nasi lemak.

Buffet breakfast was extremely kids-friendly and included western choices like pancakes, waffles, hash browns, and asian choices such as porridge, nasi lemak. The highlight for us adults was the hot noodle soup station with a choice of laksa or double-boiled soup of the day – how wonderful and healthy to start the day with just good soup. We also loved making our own open faced toasty bagel with fresh salami, topped with a tangy vinaigrette and fresh umami cheese slices.

The kids loved the sumptuous and diverse flavours of all the crispy breads and bakes. They munched happily on pistachio bread, wholemeal croissant, made their own nutty youghurt, and little pea slurped up the soup heartily. The highlight was the island-high egg station and everyone left breakfast egg-high happy.

There was a pasta, roast pork, char siew and noodle soup hot stations.

We chose the dinner experience on Saturday since it was a Seafood-on-Ice Buffet. Cook & Brew was full-house and bustling with large groups dining heartily along long tables. The sashimi was delectably fresh and the freshness of the snow crab and crayfish melted in our mouths. There was a pasta, roast pork, char siew and noodle soup hot stations. The kids loved their custom mini-wok hey pasta, and spent a good amount of time peeling their rainbow kueh lapis and trying all the sweet traditional kueh.

Seafood-on-Ice Buffet

While us, meat lovers, dug into the juicy and tender roast beef slices. Fish lovers would also enjoy a beautifully miso baked whole salmon or freshly steamed HK style whole fish served with superior soy sauce. What we loved was also the petite and refined elegant tarts which tingled our tastebuds with flavours like pistachio cranberry truffle. Kids under 12 years old dine free with a paying adult.

Luxurious Wellness His-Hers Facilities & Amenities with a Panoramic View

Luxurious Wellness His-Hers Facilities & Amenities with a Panoramic View

Between our Eat Well meals, we melted into the gorgeous Infinity Pool and took turns to access the Heavenly Spa facilities on Level 35. As we swam our way towards the pool waters’ edge, the girls gleed in delight as the Singapore Flyer and Marina Bay Sands came into view.

We all took a long relaxing pause at the waters’ edge, taking in the clear blue skies and never ending horizon of the south china sea view as we watched the Singapore flags fly past for the national day parade ahead. It was a truly a special moment.

We also had loads of fun at the jacuzzi lounge chairs in water with the other guests – a great and fun bubbly massage! Paddle-pops were also served to the guests by the pool – such a nostalgic treat!

The His-Hers Heavenly Spa facilities on the same floor were impressive with experiential rain showers, aromatherapy steam rooms and rainbow emerald-green jacuzzi pools with city views.

His-Hers lounge

Each His-Hers lounge was so therapeutic to rest and relax in with warm glowing lamps, soft leather lounge chairs thoughtfully partitioned with decorative warm timber panels for privacy. Guests also have a choice to pull back the curtains for skyline views. If we had more time, we would have tried the recommended Heavenly Massage – a deep soothing treatment that combines a heated compress with a Swedish-style massage.
