Science is fun and what better way to celebrate it than by having a party!

From 8 to 11 November 2013, that is exactly what is taking place at the Science Centre Singapore. In celebration of its 35th anniversary, Science Centre Singapore is holding an Open House with free admission and organising its first-ever Science Street Fair.

Over the four days, Science Centre will become a carnival ground with fun stalls, exciting rides, engaging activities and interactive games for the entire family.

For the first time in Singapore, the GEEK crew from the UK are in Singapore and they will be organising a festival of games at the ECO Lab. See how everyday objects can be turned into “toys” with a bit of science. Play Space Invaders using fruit or even try a head-to-head game of “Punch the Custard”.

If you are looking for something more cerebral, strap on a headband and take on the Mind Ball Challenge. Try using your brain waves alone to battle an opponent and don’t drop the ball!

Also being displayed at the Science Street Fair is the SMART (Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology) autonomous vehicle. This driverless vehicle has been unleashed from the university for the first time to take visitors on joyrides at the fair. Listen out for the R2D2 noises it makes when it indicates that an obstacle is ahead, if not, Imperial March means full speed ahead!

Specially for the Science Street Fair, there will also be an electrifying Tesla Coil Chainmail show where a man in a metal suit will be zapped by a 3.5 million volt coil.

Also roaming about the fair ground will be 20 science educators engaging children and adults on interesting science facts. Look out for Kiki Tay, a magician who will be performing a new show in his dazzling LED coat.

Other activities at the Science Street Fair include carnival games, Segway rides, a portable planetarium, water rockets, radio-controlled boats, go-karts and many more.

Street Fair Coupons are priced at $20.00 and can be purchased at the Science Street Fair. They can be used at any food and beverage outlet, activity booth and workshop. Admission charges continue to apply to Titans of the Past and Snow City. However, the Street Fair Coupons include a 50% discount to the Snow City’s 2 hour snow play package and 10% discount to the Titans of the Past exhibition.

Little Day Out Tip: Expect a crowd at the Science Street Fair. If you are planning to drive to the Science Centre Singapore, take note that car park lots are limited, especially as part of the car park has been closed off for the Science Street Fair stalls. The next nearest car park is at the multi-storey HDB car parks diagonally opposite the Science Centre Singapore at Blk 132 Jurong Gateway Road or at JCube. Resist the temptation of parking illegally along Science Centre Road as a traffic ticket would not be a nice memento from the Science Street Fair!

The Science Street Fair takes place from 8 to 11 November 2013 at the Science Centre Singapore.

8 & 9 Nov from 9.30 am to 9 pm;

10 & 11 Nov from 9.30 am to 7 pm.
