Italian Countryside in a Dome

Italian Countryside in a Dome

And to get a taste of the rustic life, away from the bustle of the city, Rose Romance 2022 has adopted a theme based on the Italian countryside.

Wheelbarrows, a bicycle and a farmer’s truck laden with flowers make it feel like you are in the away from the city.

Farm house

There’s even a scaled-down, brick-covered miniature farmhouse too.

At the centre of the Flower Field are vignettes of a town in the Tuscan countryside, overflowing with roses of all shape and colour.

There is even a working fountain, overflowing with dancing drops of water too. An of the display devoted to a “secret” or private garden with a well.

Juliet’s Balcony

Juliet's Balcony

Another first for the displays at the Flower Dome (as far as we can remember), where a another garden is incorporated as part of the main flower display, is Juliet’s Balcony.

“Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene…” goes the opening lines of Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet.

The Shakespearean tragedy has given to a fame to an actual balcony in Verona and this has also inspired a similar balcony at Rose Romance 2022. After all, it is from such a balcony that Juliet says,

What’s in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;

The Rose Romance balcony is located at the Mediterranean Garden overlooking the Flower Field.

Italian artworks

Miniature versions of selected famous Italian artworks are also on display at the Mediterranean Garden.

We end off with a quote the famous poet Seal,

Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels, yeah
And now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grey
