From 15 July to 15 August 2020, Families For Life, together with MINDS and other partners, is raising funds for the President’s Challenge through the sale of National Day-themed desserts and cookies.
National Day Special: Red Velvet Cookies with White Chocolate Chips
Key partner of the Families for Life initiative is the MINDS. The organisation’s special needs bakers will be baking limited edition “Red and White” cookies with ingredients sponsored by Phoon Huat Pte Ltd. The full proceeds of the cookie sales will go to Presidents’ Challenge.
Mr Kelvin Koh, CEO of MINDS, said, “MINDS is pleased to partner Families for Life to raise funds for President’s Challenge. We hope families will contribute to Share the Care and empower Persons with Intellectual Disabilities and enhance their Quality of Life.”

Donate and Receive a eRecipe Book
The public can also make a direct donation to the President’s Challenge through the Families for Life Giving.sg page. With every donation, donors will recipe a specially curated eRecipe book with red and white National Day recipes.
Included in the ebook are recipes from President Halimah Yacob, Fann Wong and bakeries like Tarte and Divine Artisan.
President Halimah Yacob said, “I am happy to contribute my own National Day agar-agar recipe to Share The Care to raise funds for President’s Challenge. The initiative is meaningful, especially with this year’s President’s Challenge’s focus on supporting and empowering persons with disabilities. May this spirit of giving continue to grow, as we support one another on this journey towards a caring, inclusive and more resilient Singapore.”
Special Agar-agar Kits and “Red and White” National Day Desserts
In addition, Phoon Huat has put together a special agar-agar kit based on President Halimah Yacob’s National Day recipe. It is available for $10 from any Phoon Huat or Redman store from 20 July 2020. $4 from each purchase will be donated to President’s Challenge.
Other stores such as Delcie’s Desserts and Cakes, Metta Café and Pare are also rolling out “Red and White” National Day desserts. These desserts can be purchased from their respective websites with a portion of each purchase going to the President’s Challenge.
Families can also show their support by changing their Facebook or Instagram profile picture to the special red Share The Care button badge, as part of FFL’s joint initiative with Post Office Savings Bank. The bank will donate up to $50,000 in support of the President’s Challenge as people change their profile pictures to encourage others to “share the care”.
FFL Chairman Ishak Ismail said, “We hope that more families pledge to care for each other and those around them. While this year’s National Day will be unlike any other, let us stand united and celebrate together in meaningful ways, supporting the vulnerable in our community.”
