National Day has become the season for limited-time menus inspired by local flavours, and this year, McDonald’s Singapore is partnering with one of Singapore’s most iconic snack brands, Old Chang Kee, to roll out Curry Potato Chicken Burger (Single/Double), Rendang Curry Beef Burger (Single/Double), Curry McShake Fries.

As Old Chang Kee celebrates its 70th anniversary and its recognition as a Singapore Heritage Business Award recipient, the collaboration is a fitting tribute to a brand whose iconic Curry’O has become part of Singapore’s food culture.

The partnership between McDonald’s and Old Chang Kee is more than simply adding curry to a burger.

Curry is one of Singapore’s favourite flavours, enjoyed across different communities and cuisines, making it the perfect inspiration for a collaboration that feels uniquely Singaporean.

According to the team, it took between six and nine months of research and development to recreate the distinctive taste of Old Chang Kee’s Curry’O in burger form.

An early idea of pairing curry sauce with a hash brown didn’t quite deliver the experience they were after.

Instead, they found the breakthrough by incorporating Old Chang Kee’s signature curried potato filling, recreating the familiar flavour that so many Singaporeans know and love.

The result is the Curry Potato Chicken Burger, served in a brioche bun with a crispy chicken patty, Old Chang Kee’s signature curried potato filling and a fried egg.

The crispy chicken contrasts with the creamy curry potato filling, while the egg helps soften the warmth of the curry, bringing everything together into a burger that instantly evokes memories of biting into an Old Chang Kee Curry’O.

 

 


Rendang Curry Beef Burger

Joining it is the Rendang Curry Beef Burger, which swaps nostalgia for bold and hearty flavours. A juicy beef patty is coated in rich rendang sauce before being topped with onions and a fried egg, all nestled in a sesame seed bun.

The rendang sauce complements the beef without overpowering it, while the onions add sweetness and crunch.

The sides receive a local-inspired glow-up too.

Curry Seasoning Shaker Fries

The Curry Seasoning Shaker Fries dust McDonald’s iconic fries with a fragrant curry seasoning that complements the burgers. 

Pineapple Coconut Pie

The new Pineapple Coconut Pie rounds off the meal with a tropical twist. The crispy pie gives way to a sweet pineapple filling infused with creamy coconut.

 

 


The Collaboration We Never Knew We Needed

What makes this collaboration work is that it does not just borrow local flavours for the sake of it. It treats them with real care.

Both burgers and the sides feel like they were actually developed with intention, translating familiar tastes into a new format while giving one of Singapores most recognisable heritage brands its due. It is currylicious, memorable, and unmistakably Singaporean.

As the campaign puts it, “Who put curry in our burger?” Their answer: “We did.”

The new McDonald’s National Day menu items will be available starting from 9 July 2026 onwards.
