After nine months of renovation, the Maritime Experiential Museum at Resorts World Sentosa will reopen to the public on 29 December 2017. The revamped maritime-themed museum will hold 15 galleries that make use of visual projection, multimedia, hands-on exhibits and even olfactory experiences to transport visitors back to the Maritime Silk Road.
The Maritime Silk Road refers to the sea trade routes that linked China through Southeast Asia to the Indian subcontinent, the Arabian peninsula and Europe up to the 15 century.
At the Maritime Experiential Museum at Resorts World Sentosa, visitors will be greeted by images of four famous explorers, Marco Polo, Sang Nila Utama, Ibn Battuta and Zheng He. As visitors journey through the museum, they will have the opportunity to discover how the Maritime Silk Road played a role in shaping the world as we know it today.
The museum includes the Typhoon Theatre which depicts the sinking of a ship in a storm and the Jewel of Muscat, a boat built like a 9th century Arabian Dhow that made a voyage from Oman to Singapore in 2010.

In addition, here are 5 new zones at the Maritime Experiential Museum at Resorts World Sentosa that will take visitors back in time.
At this hands-on activity zone, visitors can try out skills that mariners would be familiar with. Learn how to read a map and navigation techniques, along with the tying of knots. Visitors can also try out different outfits at an interactive photo corner.
Pirate Encounter
Jump into the thick of the action on a ship being invaded by pirates at the Pirate Encounter gallery. Experience the perils faced by sailors on the Maritime Silk Road and try to make it out alive!
Maritime Coin History
Dedicated to money, the Maritime Coin History gallery explores how coins were produced by the Chinese and Europeans and how it developed into currency for trade.
Ports of Call
Visit the ports of Quanzhou, Oman, Calicut and Malacca in the 14th century and engage the senses with the aroma of spices and perfumes while marvelling at the recreated architecture of the maritime cities.
Singapore Maritime Legacy
Learn about the role Singapore played along the Maritime Silk Road and came to be a thriving city.

Opening Hours: 10 am to 7 pm
Admission: Singapore resident special opening admission rate: $9 (U.P. $12) for adults and $6 for children (U.P. $8). Senior citizen tickets are $5 each.
Admission to the Typhoon Theatre is an additional $3 per person.
