At the Official Announcement Ceremony of KidZania Singapore on 24 January 2013, roles were reversed just like they are in KidZania – a child-centred, kid-sized city where kids rule the world.

10 Secondary Two students from Jurong West Secondary School, following a quick briefing, got to be journalists for the day and fired away with their questions before the adult journalists had a chance to do so at an actual press conference.

KidZania – Where Kids Live Their Dreams!

By Ho PH

KidZania, the world’s fastest growing unique family theme park, is a place where kids’ dreams come to life! Here, kids can not only learn about jobs, but try them out and enjoy themselves at the same time.

KidZania Singapore, located at Sentosa’s Palawan Beach, will be built by 2014 and open in 2015.

If you think that KidZania is just another theme park, you’d be wrong. KidZania revolves around a concept where kids role-play as adults, living in a kid-sized city, doing jobs adults do, earning their own money, managing their own bank accounts, travelling within the city and even applying for citizenship.

Through over a hundred fun activities within a safe environment, children from 4 to 14 can learn valuable life skills such as financial management and teamwork.

KidZania is full of jobs for children to try. Roles they can take on include policemen, firefighters, surgeons, dentists, bakers and many more! KidZania hopes to let kids learn to be independent and experience what the real working world is like.

KidZania City

KidZania Singapore will include recognisable businesses such as local banks, hospitals and restaurants.

Xavier López Ancona, President and Chief Executive Officer of KidZania, described the entire experience as a win-win-win-win-win situation. Children get to play, parents see their children learn life skills, schools are able to conduct more practical hands-on lessons and businesses get to promote their services. The last “win” being that the staff get to see the children going home with a smile.

Currently, KidZania has 11 units in eight different countries, including Tokyo, Dubai, Seoul and Lisbon.

Want your child to have more experience about different kinds of jobs? Come to KidZania and take back some memorable moments with you!
