Singapore is getting its third Ikea outlet and it is going to be a three-storey store at Jem in Jurong. Set to open in 2021, the Ikea Jem store will take over part of the retail space being vacated by Robinsons in August 2020.

Ikea Jem – Smaller Format Store Coming in 2021

Ikea Jem will be the first smaller format store in the South East Asia region. Instead of the usual huge warehouse-style shopping that we have come to expect from the Swedish furnishing giant, the new store will be organised into departments centred around the various areas of the home.

Also departing from the format of other Ikea stores in Singapore which have a children’s playground for parents can leave their children to be entertained while they shop, Ikea Jem will not have a children’s playground.

Those who wish to let their kids play will have to be content with the Jem shopping mall’s own playground at the rooftop.

Ikea Restaurant at Jem

However, at the top of many Singaporeans’ mind will be the question, “Will there be an Ikea restaurant at the Ikea Jem store?” After all, it can’t hurt to have a third location to get hold of the savoury Swedish meatballs and chicken wings.

The good news is that fans can look forward to an Ikea Restaurant at the new Jem store! Just the attraction of meatballs with creamy sauce and lingonberry jam is bound to attract droves of Westies to the new store when it opens next year.

Ikea adds on to Jem’s list of tenants which includes Don Don Donki and Muji.

Ikea Jem will occupy around 6,500 square metres or around 70,000 square feet, over three levels. The existing Robinsons Singapore store occupies four floors and a total of about 85,000 square feet.

We look forward to the opening of Ikea Jem, yet another reason to look ahead to 2021.
