Discover the domain of tiny insects and arachnids at Fort Canning Centre’s Hidden World: Creepy Crawlies of Singapore Exhibition. Located at the top floor of the 100 year old building, the exhibition combines both photographs and live specimens to shed light on the hidden world that is all around us.
Hidden World: Creepy Crawlies Of Singapore Exhibition
Launched in conjunction with the Singapore Botanic Gardens and Fort Canning Centre Heritage Festival, the Hidden World: Creepy Crawlies Of Singapore exhibition showcases over 120 species of insects and arachnids found in Singapore.
The story of insects, which have six legs and three-part bodies, and arachnids, which have eight legs, is told in six sections at the gallery. Large scale photographs provide an close up look at these creatures, revealing their amazing characteristics.

There are also live specimens in tanks that will certainly captivate your attention.
Nature’s Hunters
The first section of the exhibition showcases how insects and arachnids hunt using skills like stealth and explosive speed, or using their tools like razor-sharp jaws or powerful venom.
Hide & Seek Champions
This next section is one of the most fascinating as it shows how the creatures camouflage themselves or make use of mimicry to hide in plain sight. Some even borrow the colours of others to deceive their predators.
Show Off to Defend
Known as aposematism, making use of bright colours to warn predators is another survival strategy in the wild.
Web of Life
The next section showcases how insects and arachnids fit into the web of nature. It highlights various creatures and how they contribute to the eco-system by recycling nutrients, pollinating plants or serving as a food source for other animals.
Treasures of Singapore and Treasure of Fort Canning
In these last two sections of the exhibition, learn about species such as the Emestinus singaporensis, a new-to-science species in 2026 that has been observed at Fort Canning Park along Five Kings Walk and near the Artisan’s Garden.

From 5 to 13 September, it is open from Monday to Fridays, 10 am to 6 pm, and Saturday and Sundays till 10 pm.
From 14 September 2026 to 31 March 2027 it will be open from 10 am to 6 pm, daily.
