Feel the earth shake beneath your feet, evacuate a casualty and meet the people who help make Singapore a more resilient place at the S’pore Discovery Centre.
In conjunction with Total Defence Day, commemorated on 15 February annually, S’pore Discovery Centre is hosting a special exhibition, Together We Keep Singapore Strong, and a Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Showcase.
SCDF Showcase and Vehicular Display
On 11 to 12 February, and 15 to 19 February 2016, the SCDF Showcase and Vehicular Display can be found at the entrance to the S’pore Discovery Centre. More than a static display of the SCDF’s capabilities, it features activity stations where kids and families can learn about emergency preparedness through hands-on experiences.
The Tremorlator (we love the name) is a truck fitted out to educate the public on what to do in the event of an earthquake. Climb aboard to learn the eight steps in case of tremors and put that knowledge to the test in an earthquake simulator.

You can also try navigating through a cluttered corridor while bearing a stretcher loaded with a 40kg dummy.
Or winching up a casualty with a pulley and tripod.
At the hazmat tent, a “chemical leak” has occurred. Enter the smoke-filled tent and try evacuating a stretcher to safety.
Also on display are SCDF’s vehicles and information on how to be prepared for various emergencies.
Together We Keep Singapore Strong Exhibition
Inside the S’pore Discovery Centre is a special exhibition, Together We Keep Singapore Strong
The exhibition looks at the important role everyone plays in keeping Singapore safe. Besides articulating the importance of total defence, it also celebrates everyday heroes and the contribution of normal Singaporeans toward total defence.
A carnival basketball game perfectly illustrates what can be accomplished when people come together to achieve a common purpose.
Those with pop star aspirations can lip-sync to the Total Defence song in an interactive singing booth.
Remember to pick up a pamphlet at the beginning of the exhibition. Colour this in at activity stations found within the exhibition’s three zones. Once completed, exchange the completed pamphlet for a souvenir at the exhibition’s exit.
Together We Keep Singapore Strong is now on at the S’pore Discovery Centre till 19 March 2016.
