Rob Kenney grew up without his father after his parents got divorced. When he became a dad, he focused on raising his children well and since they have grown up, he wants to help others as well with his YouTube channel, Dad, How Do I.

Growing up in a broken family, Rob Kenney wanted to do better for his own children. He and his wife successfully raised two children who have now grown up.

“My goal in my life was to raise good adults,” Rob said in an interview with Shattered Magazine. “I never wanted to be wealthy. I never wanted to be necessarily successful. My goal in life was to raise good adults — not good children but good adults — because I had a fractured childhood.”

While on quarantine, he figured that he can still pass on some advice on everyday tasks to others.

“I want it to be about everyday tasks, but I also would like to pass along some of the wisdom I’ve learned along the way to encourage people,” he said to Shattered Magazine. He also shared that he particularly wanted to help those who came from a broken family or have an absent parent.

This led to him starting up the YouTube channel Dad, How Do I?

On the channel, he gives advice on simple thing such as how to tie a tie, shave, change the tire, iron a shirt and unclogging a sink.

Oh, and his videos comes with a share of dad jokes too!

In the one month since Dad, How Do I? started, it has amassed 1.69 million subscribers. It is presented in a disarming way.

A new “How-to” video will be released every Thursday and he is intending to do a “Tool Tuesday” from 26 May 2020.
