Singapore Night Festival 2017 takes place from 18 to 26 August 2017 with performance nights on 24, 25, 26 August. Now into its tenth year, the nocturnal festival will feature five different zones with more than 70 programmes by over 65 local and international artists.

Here are just 10 of the high-LIGHTs you can look forward to at this special 10th edition of the Singapore Night Festival.

Convolutions

Where: National Museum of Singapore façade
When: 18 to 26 August, 7.30 pm to 12 am

For Singapore Night Festival 2017, the National Museum of Singapore’s façade will be taken over by a visual poem composed with projection, lights and music, Convolutions by EZ3kiel from France.

GLOBE

Where: Cathay Green
When: 24, 25, 25 August, 8 pm to 8.30 pm, 10.30 pm to 11 pm

Get up close to the action and take on a child’s perspective at GLOBE by Close-Act Theatre. The performance features circus techniques, pyrotechnics and video projection to creation a visualisation of liberty at Singapore Night Festival 2017.

The Tree That Blinked

Where: Banyan Tree, outside National Museum of Singapore

A series of portraits projected on the tree evokes the themes of identity, representation and transformation in the work, The Tree That Blinked by UK artist Karel Bata.

Tessellations of Time

Where: National Museum of Singapore, Main Ground

Selected from the Singapore Night Festival’s Open Call for Night Lights, Tessellations of Time is inspired by the bridges between people and time and features coded lights and digitally fabricated pods.

The Flower of Life and the Infinite Self

Where: Stamford Green
When: 18 to 26 August, 7.30 pm to 12 am

Created by Starlight Academy, The Flower of Life and the Infinite Self draws inspiration from Fuller and Escher to create a contemplative installation that resembles a flower.

String Fling Puppet Show

Where: The Pit, SMU
When: 25 August, 6 pm to 6.45 pm; 26 August, 6 pm to 7 pm

Singapore’s own Frankie Yeo brings his fun-filled and interactive show to audiences at Singapore Night Festival 2017. His act will feature marionette star Bruno, the juggling clown, and Fuzzy-Wuzzies. Great for adults and children alike.

Reprizzo Circus

Where: The Pit, SMU
When: 26 August, 7.30 pm to 8 pm, 8.45 pm to 9.15 pm, 10 pm to 10.30 pm

Award-winning circus performer Reprizzo will take audiences on an unpredictable journey of possibilities while juggling, dancing and showing-off his mastery of circus traditions.

Flock

Where: National Design Centre
When: 18 to 26 August, 7.30 pm to 12 am

Combining light, sound and projections with live motion tracking, this Singapore Night Festival 2017 installation allows visitors to explore the narrative of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake from a unique perspective.

Nights of Wonder

Where: Prototyping Lab @ NDC
When: 18, 19, 24, 25, 26 August, 7.30 pm to 12 am

Join OneMaker Group for workshops where you can paint colourful light,s explore optical illusions through infinity mirrors and even create your own light saber. Material costs apply for workshops.

The Bulb Heads

Where: Roving around National Museum of Singapore, Singapore Art Museum and SMU
When: 24, 25, 26 August, 7.30 pm to 8 pm, 9 pm to 9.30 pm and 10.30 pm to 11 pm
