With Chinese New Year 2019 less than a month away, gear up to welcome the Year of the Pig as the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) presents CNY Family Fun 2019 with a slew of programmes for young and old.

Held over 12 and 13 January 2019, learn about the traditions and practices behind the Spring Festival, usher in the Lunar New Year with your very own DIY terrarium, or collect a limited-edition red packet designed by local illustrator Ah Guo.

Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre ActivitiesYou could even join in a mass hunt to seek out the “real” God of Fortune, or Cai Shen Ye, amongst imposters and return his golden tael for great luck and fortune at SCCC’s CNY Family Fun 2019!

Fun-filled Weekend for the Whole Family

Lion Dance at SCCCVisitors to SCCC’s CNY Family Fun 2019 can look forward to guzheng and pipa performances by musical sisters, Cheah Peiqi and Cheah Xueqi, a skit by local comedian, “Miss Mole” Ho Ai Ling, a Chinese Wind and Percussion performance by Reverberance, and even a Hokkien Opera Performance by Do Opera.

Other fringe activities include lion dance performances – and a lion dance crash course; a mini-concert by Intune Music, and talks on fengshui and the Chinese zodiac.

SCCC’s CNY Family Fun 2019Looking to spruce up your living spaces for the Lunar New Year in a green way? Learn how to upcycle loose parts from home and create your very own yarn art piece or a red container night light at fun workshops run by Terra SG at SCCC’s CNY Family Fun 2019.

If you need a snack break during the festival, SCCC has got you covered with muah chee, kacang puteh, and popcorn stations!

As you participate in the various activities, be sure to collect stamps that could see you taking home the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre’s first “singing red packet” which will be available in limited quantities!

This limited-edition red packet is designed by local illustrator Ah Guo, and will be paired with a catchy tune titled The Lo Hei Song (捞鱼生), composed by local composer-pianist, Peng Chi Sheng.
