Westies would be familiar with the bright red fire station facing Old Jurong Road and next to the Rail Corridor. The conserved heritage building has since been converted into enrichment spaces, lifestyle spaces and now a co-living space with retail shops.

While an event space is still getting setup as of June 2026, we took a look at the former Bukit Timah Fire Station. It used to be a fire station from the 1950s then decommissioned in 2005.

Old Bukit Timah Fire Station’s History

Old Bukit Timah Fire Station's History

Bukit Timah Fire Station was Singapore’s fourth fire station. Then the station served an array of emergencies – cliff rescues, quarry incidences since it was in the vicinity of a few quarries, gas explosions and more.

As i grew up in the nearby Fuyong estate, the fire station was a memorable landmark.

It still looks the same many decades later thanks to its conservation status. Though its occupants are no longer firemen, there are some shops and a co-living option to check out.

What catches the eyes of visitors might be the tall tower originally used by firefighters for hose-drying and rigorous drills. It features a vibrant mural that pays tribute to both the Rail Corridor and the site’s firefighting heritage.
