My Community Festival, the ground-up community event, is back from 5 to 21 August 2022 with a full line up of in-person experiences like tours and workshops for the first time since 2020.
This third edition of My Community Festival is centred around the theme My Home Sweet Home and will allow festival-goers to gain access to private spaces that may otherwise be off-limits. These include homes, workplaces and places of worship.
Highlights of My Community Festival 2022
Three Festival Villages

This year’s My Community Festival will be centred around three neighbourhoods or “festival villages”. These are Changi Village, Alexandra Village and Chinatown. Each of these will be highlighted over separate weekends with self-guided tours that encourage participants to get to know the community stakeholders better.
There will be a total of 64 tours and experiences this year, divided into eight programme series.

New Programmes: My Home, Truly and Others

Also anchoring My Community Festival 2022 is the programme series “My Home, Truly”. This spotlights the various types of homes in Singapore. Participants will get to visit spaces such as a foreign worker dormitory, Singapore’s last kampung and rental flats, and meet the people who call them home.

Other programmes include visits to unofficial enclaves in Singapore such as Little Belgium, Little Philippines and Little Taiwan to reflect on how these communities contribute to Singapore’s identity as a melting pot, and a programme where Singapore and international families welcome visitors to their homes for a meal.
