With the gloom of the COVID-19 news, Mr Brown, Singapore’s Blogfather, and Mr Benjamin “Miyagi” Lee have brought some levity to the situation with a rendition of “10 People 1 Metre”, a parody of the National Day classic “One People, One Nation, One Singapore”.

10 People 1 Metre

“10 People 1 Metre” calls on everyone to practise social distancing. It features words by Jeff Cheong and its chorus is credited to Jo Yu Ming Xuan and Yu Xin Tian. Apparently, it was inspired by a WhatsApp Text.

Answering the call that went out on Jeff Cheong’s Facebook page to produce the song were Lee Kin Mun, better known as Mr Brown, and Benjamin “Miyagi” Lee. They collaborated to produce a stirring duet version of the song.

To make sure they were practising what they were singing about, the duo even went so far as to make sure their collaboration was done remotely – more than 1 metre apart!

Two thumbs up!

You can view their production of “10 People 1 Metre” below.

Ten People One Metre One Singapore

We answered the nation’s call with a social distancing duet in our own homes. Remote collabo is the new norm! Do your own version of this iconic national song. Lyrics can be found here:

The full lyrics of “10 People 1 Metre” are:

We’ve built a nation with hands.
Then COVID locks us in our land.
Strangers we have now become, still we’re Singaporeans.
Let’s space out for Singapore, join our hearts forevermore

Chorus:
10 PEOPLE
1 METRE
1 SINGAPORE
THAT’S THE WAY THAT WE SHOULD BE, COVID NO MORE
EVERY CREED AND EVERY RACE
EVERY STORE AND EVERY PLACE
10 PEOPLE 1 METRE 1 SINGAPORE

And when the time comes for the test
We work from home but never rest
Cinemas and makan place
Kana close and contact trace
Let’s reach out for Singapore, join our hearts forevermore.

Chorus:
10 PEOPLE
1 METRE
1 SINGAPORE
THAT’S THE WAY THAT WE SHOULD BE, COVID NO MORE
EVERY CREED AND EVERY RACE
EVERY STORE AND EVERY PLACE
10 PEOPLE 1 METRE 1 SINGAPORE

Other people have also responded to the clarion call to spread the message of stand one metre apart as one Singapore. You can view two other versions below.

I recorded this song using my clinic laptop. Happy Listening.
HAVE A HAPPY DORSCON ORANGE DAY.
Thanks to Mr Miyagi for the minus one. This is the song that Mr Miyagi and Mr Brown recorded using the music and lyrics shared by Jeff Cheong.

Whoever also wants to record and post, ask me for the minus one.
