Voyage of Icons by Howie Kim is an animated projection mapping artwork that reimagines Singapore’s local folklore in a whimsical fashion. The digital artwork weaves together a dynamic mix of familiar cultural icons, echoing how myths are often naturally formed through shared memories.

This installation by Arup is a reference to the traditional superstition that has been around since the kampong days of preventing by planting chilli to prevent rain!

Larger-than-life chillies and onions onto glowing skewers create a space which invites passers-by to stop and linger and perhaps even share memories of superstitions that have been passed down through the years.

This interactive installation at Waterloo Centre, also by Arup, draws on the belief of “touching wood” to ward off bad luck. The sculptural tree is lit with softly glowing spheres and it animates when people touch it, representing the dissipation of bad luck. It playfully gives giving visible form to the act of seeking protection and averting misfortune.

Stepping through the walkway, you will be taken beneath the waves, alongside the swordfishes of The Legend of Redhill and the magical giant tortoise said to have formed Kusu Island.
