This year, for Light Together Bras Basah.Bugis 2026, local folklore will come alive across five locations around the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct.

Festival-goers can experience Light Together Bras Basah.Bugis at the Artspace @ Waterloo Centre, the Reflection Pool @ Bras Basah MRT Station, Stamford Place, Stamford Walkway and the National Museum of Singapore.

These experiences invite festival-goers of all ages to to explore local, Singapore stories and to view them in a new light.

For example, there will be installation by artist Arup entitled Better plant chilli so it won’t rain! This appears to be a reference to the traditional superstition that has been around since the kampong days of preventing by planting chilli to prevent rain! Apparently, from the video below, it is something that still practised to this day.
