Due to the change in COVID-19 measures, the National Library has increased the loan time of materials borrowed from the library. To encourage patrons to read and learn from home, materials borrowed from the National Library between 16 May and 31 July will be doubled to six weeks, up from the current three weeks.

Double of loan period of library books

The renewal of books can be done via the NLB mobile app (https://mobileapp.nlb.gov.sg) before the library materials are due. Those who have unreturned physical library materials that are due on or after 16 May will have their due dates extended to 11 July.

Change in library operating capacity

The library has also reduced the operating capacity in the 26 public libraries and archives, the National Archives of Singapore and the Former Ford Factory from the current 50 per cent to 25 per cent. Timed entry has also been implemented, the duration of stay in the library premises for each patron has been reduced and all physical programmes, including tours, and operations of their maker spaces such as MakeIT at Libraries have been suspended.
