The Pantry & Kids Space at Dempsey: One-Stop Lifestyle Destination

The Pantry & Kids Space at Dempsey: One-Stop Lifestyle Destination

What our family loved was how seamless the indoor and outdoor spaces were creatively connected and how each offering in each space harmonised and complimented with the one another in or outdoors.

Here’s an overview what you can find at this family lifestyle space.

Indoors

  • The Pantry with Alfresco sitting options, Level 0
  • Kids21 Boutique, Level 1
  • Indoor Playground & The Hive, Level 2

Outdoors

  • Treehouse Playground, Level 0
  • The Yurt, The Lawn, Level 0

The girls could move freely between the spaces to play, while we could always comfortably relax in proximity with bites and brew.

They loved the tactile feel of the baby soft grass outdoors; the warmth of the wooden floor indoors, as they played in sun-kissed spots and naturally lit spaces throughout the compound.

This was a weather proof little day out with in and outdoor experiences, and even retail therapy! Or that last minute gift shopping? Find it all within the same accessible compound.

The Pantry at Dempsey: Hearty & Yummy Dining

The Pantry at Dempsey: Hearty & Yummy Dining

In the heart of this lifestyle compound in Dempsey lies The Pantry.

Surrounded by the lush forest and occasional birdsong, choose between alfresco dining or the comfort of dining indoors.

Helmed by Chef de Cuisine Felicia Khoo, the menu draws from timeless classics with comforting flavours – with all day classic breakfast plates, rich protein grain bowls of Miso Salmon, Thai Pork Jowl; umami pasta choices of Truffle Mushroom Risotto or Beef Ragout Tagliatelle; crusty fresh sandwiches like Mortadella Focaccia with ricotta and indulgent Aussie Beef Smash burgers.

Feeling snacky but want to have no guilt? Go for the crispy tofu fries or miso-glazed corn ribs!

Variety of Baby to Kid-Friendly Choices

Variety of Baby to Kid-Friendly Choices

We were pleased to find baby weaning choices such as avocado/banana mash or HIPP baby food products, also available for mums who just need a timeout from meal prep.

Kids will be spoilt for choice with their own version of all day breakfast like Nutty Nana pancakes, or Happy Meal choices such as cult-favourite in-house made crispy Chicken Karaage and chips.

Mums will be pleased with healthier choices like ABC macaroni in chicken bone broth or the lil’ protein rice bowls with choices of salmon, prawn or chicken.

A Flavourful & Well-Balanced Brunch Fare of Classic Comforts

A Flavourful & Well-Balanced Brunch Fare of Classic Comforts

We dove straight into our glossy emerald green tuscan kale salad which looked so inviting. It was a harmonious texture of flavours, with fresh tangy granny smith apple slices, velvety smooth hummus, topped with crispy crunchy chickpeas…hmm goodness.

This really opened up our palate for the mains: Truffle Mushroom Orzo Risotto and The Pantry Smash Burger.

The Risotto was spoonfuls of creamy umami goodness as we savoured the buttery umami taste of shiitake, maitake and cremini. The truffle oil was perfectly balanced with the salty and savoury parmesan, which gave depth to the overall flavour.

The hero part of the Smash burger was the buttery soft brioche which melted into our mouths with the juicy beef patty topped with a secret special sauce.

The kids finished up their crispy chicken karaage and generous finger licking good breaded fish fillets in a wink of an eye.

They refused to share their fries and finished up their beautiful fresh green juices, eagerly anticipating on dessert.

Feeling old-school, we chose to go with The Pantry Sundae, which came with a dollop of fresh whipped cream and triple scoops of ice-cream.

Big Pea loved the crispy waffle biscuit and we enjoyed diving into the rich layers of cold ice-cream paired with addictive biscoff crumble and sweet banana chunks.

We got to meet Chef Felicia in person – vivacious and bubbly, she is truly every kid’s foodie pal dream. Join her for a cookout session to get those little hands busy and confident!

Kids Space Indoor Playground: Imaginative & Exploratory Play

Kids Space Indoor Playground: Imaginative & Exploratory Play

For families with young kids, The Pantry extends naturally into a fuller day out at Dempsey with Kids Space Indoor Playground which access comes with a four-hour $55 one-time play pass (per child with 2 accompanying adults) or kids club membership access with classes for kids 6 months to 9 years old.

The entrance to Level 2 Kids Space was welcoming and decked out delightfully whimsically as the kids ran up the bright cobalt blue stairways all fuelled up.

Entering Level 2, we were greeted with a clean and woodland treehouse-inspired like theme inspired playground flushed with natural lighting from the huge windows.

The warm earthy tones of wood and soft cork flooring were calming and inviting.

There are a variety of mini play zones thoughtfully curated to cater to different interests:

  • Wooden Treehouse for Little Adventurers
  • Collaborative STEM Play Zones & Walls for Little Tinkers
  • Imaginative Play Station (Rotational monthly theme)
  • Under Two Soft Play Zone for Curious Explorers
  • The Hive (Indoor programming area for workshop, classes)

There is also a little Mini Pantry and kids-friendly washrooms next to the playground, with water, coffee dispensers and snacks provided.

Wooden Treehouse for Little Adventurers

Wooden Treehouse for Little Adventurers

It was quite a thrill for the girls to try to find their way up to the whimsical wooden Treehouse-like structure.

They enjoyed working their little muscles up the rope ladder and climbing up the narrow winding steps of a little hidden tree hole.

Faced with big giant bouncy white balls, they challenged themselves to find their way out through a winding maze that overlooked out and down to the ground floor, and were rewarded with a shoot-out back to the floor via a fast tube slide.

Collaborative STEM Play Zones

The girls were curious with the Peek-a-boo Blue Panels along the windows, that had tubes linking to the treehouse.

Once they figured it was a DIY ball run, they readily made new older friends to get the balls pulley up with different tubes running up and down from the treehouse and through the right holes.

They also loved the vertical magnetic ball run wall and spent some time to figure how to piece the track together.

It was constant experimentation and problem solving to get the balls running through from top to bottom. Truly a kinetic and sensory play at the best, only with teamwork!

Air Tube station

The highlight of their time was at the Air Tube station and the girls worked their patience well, trying to successfully launch their parachute up the wind tunnel at the same time!

Imaginative Play Station (Rotational Monthly Theme)

Little Pea was also drawn to the cute plushie animals at the Little Paws Hospital. It was a lovely Pet Care station set up, complete with cute pet x-ray posters and wooden vet tools.

Little Pea got her vet imaginative dreams very satisfied and proudly returned her baby bulldog to their owner after a good check up at her Pet Care Centre.

Under Two Soft Play Zone for Curious Explorers

Under Two Soft Play Zone for Curious Explorers

For parents who need some relief with active crawlers or climbers, the Under Two Soft Play Zone with gentle curve blocks, reminiscent of the sea waves, provide a safe and calming space for the active toddlers to explore.

Parents can also rest, have a cuppa or bite; nurse or read a book to wind down their toddlers at the cosy seats just next to the play area.

Adventure Outside to an Outdoor Treehouse Playground

Adventure Outside to an Outdoor Treehouse Playground

With the lovely sunlight beckoning outside, we moved on to the Outdoor Kids Treehouse next door.

Big Pea enjoyed rope climbing up the rock wall and moving through the rope bridges and climbing down the fireman pole.

It was refreshing to play in such a leafy sheltered and tranquil setting, with a good variety of wooden structures and connecting planes to build dexterity and motor skill confidence – but do bring on your mozzie repellant!

structured or free play sessions

Little Pea quickly warmed up to her new friends for the day as they started the day with a beautiful story telling session, and headed to the outdoor lawn in their little white apron coats for sensory play.

Troughs of different sensory play experiences were beautifully laid out on the soft green lawn and the kids had the best of all worlds with water, ice, color, paint, texture for a good full hour.

After a change of clothes and a well balanced morning snack of broccoli, crispy karaage and fries from The Pantry, Ms Jing warmed the class up with her infectious energy with ribbon dance steps, rhythmic songs and movement accompanied by different instruments.

Each of the kids had an hands-on experience playing on a digitone and violin, which captivated them.

Then all too soon, it was time to go – Little Pea said goodbye to her new friends for the day and left with a yearning heart.

We left Kids Space and The Pantry just simply happy. Whether its a quiet retreat out or simply to relax in a nature-inspired space with good comfort food, this is truly an all-round experience with holistic offerings all in one place. We hope to be back again!
