Starting February 2021, Hard Rock Café Singapore invites diners to “R-ox and Roll” this Chinese New Year. From their Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng Salad (Yu Sheng Salad with a modern twist), celebratory classics such as Braised Ox Cheek with Gold Flakes & Red Wine Sauce, as well as limited edition Chinese New Year Pins, all are invited to celebrate the Chinese New Year at Hard Rock Café Singapore.

Here are some of the dishes that are on Hard Rock Cafe’s exclusive Chinese New Year menu.

Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng Salad

Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng Salad

For a different and healthier take on the traditional Yu Sheng, Hard Rock’s Prosperity Salmon Yu Sheng Salad has a portion of Smoked Norwegian salmon with a fresh salad of baby spinach, beetroot, carrot, radish and fruits. It is served with tangy golden tangerine dressing with gold flakes for that extra “huat”. Crispy corn flakes replace the usual deep-fried crackers.

The salad was refreshing and the sauce brought together the salty salmon as well as the variety of fruits in the Yu Sheng salad.

Braised Ox Cheek With Gold Flakes & Red Wine Sauce

Braised Ox Cheek With Gold Flakes & Red Wine Sauce

The Braised Ox Cheek With Gold Flakes & Red Wine Sauce is one of the mains you can get on the Chinese New Year menu.

The ox cheek is slow-braised until fork tender and served with baby carrot, asparagus, mashed potatoes and fried lotus root, with a rich gold flake and red wine reduction. It’s also topped with more gold flakes, just because.

We enjoyed how flavourful, aesthetically pleasing the whole dish was, as well as the textures of the different ingredients in the dish.

Roasted Duck Leg With Longevity Noodles

Roasted Duck Leg With Longevity Noodles

The Roasted Duck Leg With Longevity Noodles has a succulent crispy confit duck that is roasted with 13 spices and served with braised cherry tomatoes and asparagus.

It is paired with auspicious longevity noodles in a house-made savoury ginseng herbal sauce. The herbal ginseng sauce balanced out the smoky 13 spice duck confit and made for a hearty meal.

Golden Fried Milk Fritter With Fresh Strawberry Compote

For dessert, Hard Rock café is serving a crispy fried coconut flavoured milk fritter with fresh strawberry compote and sweet coconut flakes.

We enjoyed this dessert a lot and it reminded us of fried nian gao, but not as heavy or overly sweet. The breaded exterior reminded us of a fluffy doughnut and the inside was filled with a panna cotta like milky filling. The strawberry compote also gave the extra tang and sweetness to the creamy filling.

Hard Rock Cafe Chinese New Year Drinks

Hard Rock Cafe Drink

Hard Rock Café also has a selection of drink to choose from, each of them with an ox-picious name, great for a toast to prosperity!

Some of our favourites include the Sparkling Fortune drink made with prosecco, strawberry puree and homemade lemonade topped with a fresh strawberry.

Another unique drink is the Mandarin Mule, which is made with absolute mandarin vodka, Grand Marnier and orange juice topped with premium fever tree ginger beer. There are also two more fruity variations made with passion fruit and lychee, the Passionfruit Blosson and Lizhi Lemonde, respectively.

Hard Rock Limited Edition Chinese New Year Pins

Hard Rock Café is also selling limited edition Chinese New Year pins for 2021. There are two different designs exclusive to the individual outlets.

The Hard Rock Café Singapore’s outlet design symbolises the strength of an ox with the Chinese character for ox on the top of the pin. The other design available at Hard Rock Cafe Sentosa features red blossoming flowers to symbolise prosperity. The pins retail for $26.
