The Chilli Crab Sandwich ($16) is a loaded bun to begin with. Rich and fluffy scrambled eggs with chives, caramelised onions, a slice of cheddar, baby romaine and a thick layer of chili crab sauce sits between two slices of warm and buttery brioche buns.

Enjoy Flavours Packed In Every Bite Of The Eggslut And Jumbo Seafood Chilli Crab Sandwich

The layer of chilli crab sauce, said to be made from JUMBO’s fresh chilli crab, tastes straight out of a good plate of chilli crab.

The sandwich is on the sweeter end, as the sauce contains notes of sweetness reminiscent of eating fried mantou dipped in a chilli crab sauce. The generous amount of scrambled eggs melded well with the sauce, providing a flavour packed experience in every bite.

However, although the sandwich promises an amazing taste, it falls a little short in the texture department. With the main ingredients being chilli crab sauce, scrambled eggs and baby romaine, the sandwich provides a slight contrast of crunch against overwhelming soft textures through the baby romaine.

Rich And Creamy Flavours Delight With Eggslut And Jumbo Seafood’s Chilli Crab Slut

The next item we tried was the Chilli Crab Slut ($12). Having the Slut as a personal favourite menu item, we were excited to try and see how the chilli crab sauce will meld with the rich flavours of the Slut.

The dish consists of a glass jar stacked with layers of house-made potato purèe, chilli crab sauce and a coddled egg sitting atop, topped with chives. It also comes with thin crusty baguette slices drizzled with olive oil for dipping.

The Slut provides a wonderful concoction of flavours that pair very well with the baguette, making it a buttery and creamy dish with a crunch.

The chilli crab sauce had a much less sweet flavour, especially when mixed with the egg and potato purèe. It was hard to taste the individual flavours of each ingredient, although it mixes together well as a whole.

Overall, the new items on the menu has us intrigued, as we were pleasantly surprised at the flavour.

For those who are worried about the spice, both the Chilli Crab Sandwich and Chilli Crab Slut tasted way less spicy than the usual chili crab fare. Head on down to any of the Eggslut outlets at Scotts Square or Suntec City to get your hands on the new dishes, which are available till the end of September.

Eggslut will also be hosting a “Sing it LA!” giveaway on their social media platforms in conjunction with the upcoming National Day.

Participants can showcase their talents and love for Singapore by singing any NDP song, to enjoy a complimentary Chilli Crab Sandwich.

The promotion will run from 15 July to 9 August 2023 through redemption on the Happy Point app, with more details released through Eggslut’s social media platforms.

If you enjoyed this story, we predict that you will also enjoy this one on a special National Day 2023 brand collaboration.
