Taste Test of the Japanese Pasta at Don Don Donki Bukit Panjang Plaza
Personally, we chose the combination of Lobster Bisque Pasta with the Wagyu Menchi Katsu and topped off with the Mentaiko Mayo.
After waiting for a while, the buzzer started to vibrate and we made our way over to the counter to pick up the order before returning to our seat to tuck into the meal.
Interestingly, we were given a pair of chopsticks along with a spoon – so we got to eat our pasta with a pair of chopsticks!
Looking at the pasta bowl, we immediately thought that we should not have added on the Mentaiko Mayo. It has an overwhelming taste that tends to dominate the rest of the dish.
Nonetheless, we managed to find a spot where we could try the unadulterated Lobster Bisque Pasta on its own.
We were pleasantly surprised to find that the Lobster Bisque Pasta was nice and firm to the bite. In addition, the sauce (or what we could taste of it) had a nice flavour. This just made us regret adding on the Mentaiko Mayo even more.
The Wagyu Menchi Katsu or minced beef patty had a nice golden crust that encased the minced beef inside. While this had a nice bite, we found that the patty was not hot enough on the inside.
On the whole, we were intrigued by the Japanese pasta at the Don Don Donki Bukit Panjang outlet and would probably try it again to satisfy our curiosity of the various possible combinations.
