With a bit of ingenuity, a piece of cardboard can be transformed into a fun toy. Part of the enjoyment of DIY cardboard toys is the sense of satisfaction and accomplishment of creating something on your own. It can also be a great parent-child project.
In a video, one dad is showing how to make your own DIY cardboard toys for kids to play with.
His DIY cardboard toys require nothing more than typical cardboard materials which can be sourced from leftover packaging. The most impressive thing that these DIY cardboard toys is that creativity which he puts in to fabricate them.
And from the looks of it, his son is having a blast playing with them.
It is also a good lesson for kids about resourcefulness and being hands-on.
Cardboard Dinosaur Money Bank
The first cardboard creation is a standing dinosaur money bank. Kids get to feed the dinosaur through the mouth and it winds up in a jar at its belly.
Some cardboard, a box cutter and a glue gun is all that is required to create this money bank. Dad in the video shows how to in several simple steps.
Driving Game made from Cardboard
The next toy is the most impressive of the lot. It is a driving game for kids. According to the video, the cardboard creation so enraptured the son’s attention that he didn’t even want to play mobile phone games for two days.
In the driving game, kids can steer a “car” through traffic. It is built from cardboard and makes use of paper with cars on them.
One catch is that is hand-powered – dad need to spin a wheel to keep the traffic going. Still it is a great way for parent and child to spend time together.
DIY Cardboard Toy Projects
Dad shows how to make two other DIY cardboard toy projects. A playground slide and a dinosaur costume – all made with upcycled cardboard.
It is pretty ingenious. Give this dad a medal!
