Ever wondered what it would be like to take part in a TV game show rather than simply watch one? At BuzzAttack Singapore, you get to step up to your own game station, compete across a series of challenges and see how your score stacks up against the rest of your group.

Located at Clarke Quay Central Mall, BuzzAttack is an immersive game show experience inspired by familiar television game shows. The 60-minute experience combines trivia, reflexes, memory and other challenges, with an AI host guiding players through the games.

We headed down to see what BuzzAttack Singapore to check out the buzz and experience this 60 minute session for ourselves.

The trivia questions cover a surprisingly broad range of topics.

When players enter the venue, they will first set up their profile and select three catagories that they feel will put them at the biggest advantage. There was no shortage of catagories and there’s sure to be a few topics that a player would feel confident enough about.

BuzzAttack Singapore: Step Into Your Own Game Show

Step Into Your Own BuzzAttack Game Show Station

The first thing we liked about BuzzAttack was the set-up. Each player gets their own station and set of buzzers, which immediately makes you feel like a contestant rather than someone simply playing a game in an entertainment venue.

Before the games begin, there is a tutorial explaining how the experience works. Rather than simply watching instructions, the tutorial also encourages audience participation, helping to build up the atmosphere and get everyone involved before the competition starts.

The experience has six stations and is designed for participants of four to 12 people. While some games randomly pair players up, everyone still has their own individual account and score, meaning there is plenty to keep track of even when you are temporarily working with someone else.

A Mix Of Trivia, Reflexes And Memory

There is a good variety of games throughout the experience, and most are straightforward enough to understand once you get going. The challenges test different skills, including trivia, memory and reflexes, so being good at one type of game does not necessarily mean you will excel at everything.

As much as the trivia questions cover a broad range of topics, players should be prepared for questions that test specific knowledge rather than just general familiarity with a subject.

For example, even when the topic is something generally considered family-friendly, such as Disney or anime, questions may focus on details such as the year a film was released or which film won an Oscar, rather than asking something more straightforward such as the name of a main character.

That makes BuzzAttack more challenging than a casual family quiz, particularly for younger children.

There are some reflex based and memory games where it will challenge you to memorise a series of colours and making a single mistake means breaking your streak and having your points reset to zero.

One particularly fun round is called “Read the Room”. Instead of having one objectively correct answer, players earn points by choosing the answer that they think will be the most popular among everyone in the room.

How Kid-Friendly Is BuzzAttack Singapore?

While BuzzAttack Singapore could certainly make for an interesting group outing, we would say it is better suited to adults and older teenagers than young children or tweens.

One reason is the pace. Some of the games require you to read and process information quite quickly, and you need to stay focused to keep up with what is happening.

The level of trivia knowledge required may also make some rounds difficult for younger players. Children who are particularly interested in specific topics may find questions they know, but the more detailed style of questioning means that simply being familiar with Disney, anime or another popular subject does not necessarily make the questions easy.

It is also worth noting that players stand throughout the entire experience, with no opportunity to sit down during the game.

It is also worth knowing that although you can take photos and videos during parts of the experience, some sections require your full attention. If you are trying to capture everything on camera, you may find yourself missing some of the game.

For families considering BuzzAttack, we would lean towards bringing older children or teenagers who enjoy quizzes, competition and fast-paced games.

Spin The Wheel

A giant wheel adds another element to the experience. Players get the chance to spin it, with different possibilities appearing on the wheel.

Some of the options can have a significant effect on the game, including opportunities for a player to win a jackpot. There are also some less immediately obvious options, so it can be interesting to see what your group lands on.

How competitive the experience becomes will probably depend quite a bit on who you play with. With a group of competitive friends or colleagues, the individual scoring and game-show format could make things considerably more intense. With a more relaxed group, it can simply be another entertaining activity to do together.

Expect A Little Roasting At The End

Expect A Little Roasting At The End

Once the games are over, the AI host wraps things up with a total summation of the scores and a presentation of awards.

Depending on how you performed, you might find yourself being praised or roasted. The player who finishes first receives the title of “Buzzmaster”, while the player at the bottom of the leaderboard is given the rather less glamorous title of “Epic Fail”.

It gives the experience a playful finale and provides a memorable way to end the competition.
