Take a closer look at what goes on behind-the-scenes at marine nursery habitats and how the marine life is cared for at S.E.A. Aquarium’s Aquarist Lab.

This back-of-house facility is where aquarists care for hatchlings, caring for juvenile marine animals and culture plankton for food. 

General visitors to S.E.A. Aquarium will be able to get a peek at the work that goes on inside the Aquarist Lab through a series of windows along the passageway.

Take a look to catch a glimpse of the tanks holding young marine animals and the glowing green cylinders where plankton is being cultured.

Behind-the-Scenes: Aquarist Lab Experience

Those who want to have a closer look can book a guided behind-the-scenes experience to learn more. 

The ticketed Behind-the-Scenes: Aquarist Lab experience will take guests on a tour around the lab as well as the separate Quarantine Room. 

During the tour, guests will be introduced to the work that the aquarists do. This includes breeding the animals and caring for species such as sea jellies and sea horses.

They will also get to visit the Quarantine Room where animals are acclimatised to S.E.A. Aquarium’s environment. The facility is also used to care for animals that need more specialised attention.

The 30-minute Behind-the-Scenes: Aquarist Lab experience takes place four times daily at 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm and 3 pm.
