Childhoods of the past used to involve picking up saga seeds. Kids of today can climb on them at the Saga Seeds Playground at Ang Mo Kio, located next to Jubilee Square at Ang Mo Kio Central.
Saga Seeds Playground in Ang Mo Kio
The adorable Saga Seeds Playground which replaced a much older playground at Ang Mo Kio Ave 8, just in front of the food court at Block 711.
Decked in red and brown, the playground plays homage to saga seeds. Picking saga seeds from the ground and containing them in a bottle to gift loved ones was probably a fond memory many of us have from childhood.

The Saga Seeds Playground structure has two sections that vaguely look like they could be in a pod.
The main section of the playground consists of a tower with a curved ramp on one side that leads up to a rope platform above.
An alternative way to get to the platform is a series of hammocks that have been slung out underneath the platform.
Capping off this section, there is a bright red saga seed marking out the tower. Children will gravitate towards this tower to climb it before sliding down using the tunnel slide.
In an adjoining section, children will also find it fun to climb up a rock climbing surface. They can imagine that they are in a saga seed pod.
There are also spinners to interact with.
The gaps in the structure make it easy for caregivers to watch them from a distance.
Large Red Saga Seeds at the Playground
The Saga Seed Playground also looks very attractive because it has a few larger-than-life saga seeds scattered around the main play structure. This must resemble how they first fall to the ground.
There are a total of five of the huge saga seeds that kids can climb on. For added fun, two of them are equipped with spring so that they can bounce up and down.
Did you know the saga seed, also known as the Lucky Red Seed or Red Bead Tree, is an iconic tree in Singapore’s landscape? It is a large tree that can grow up to 20 metres tall.
We can recognise saga seeds from their colour and shape. These heart-shaped seeds symbolise love in many cultures and are used as decoration or as lucky charms. In the past, saga seeds were tools used to measure silver and gold in ancient India and Sri Lanka.
